Surely Simon Pride and nNick Barnes would have spoken about this before the show aired? either could have confirmed or denied the comments that were made last night.

Sounds to me like Simon Pryde was going off internet rumour only without validating it, and that upon looking to validate it they've realised its bollocks.

Perhaps Simon needs to only report news and not what some ITK is telling him from now on.

Was the news on here last night about Dan Neil staying another load of bollocks same as the striker rumour?
Nowt on clubs website and nobody talking about it on here.

No that was a reporter (Mike McGrath).

No reference to new contract though - just him saying Neil wants to stay.

There’s a lot of stuff going around, lot of rumours and names it’s difficult to keep up at times. <laugh>

Promised moves or pay rises should never be verbal imo, get something on paper with a signature on it otherwise there's no point, especially when the reported agreement was with someone that is no longer there mate. But yes, I agree a contract doesn't mean a person can treat a person how you like, but on the other hand, that contract which he willingly signed for a set amount of years has made him a very rich young man.
Both Jack Clarke and Jobe benefited from verbal agreements in recent seasons. It definitely depends on the morals of the club who you agree them with imo:emoticon-0102-bigsm

That is something the club have done very well I think which is standing by the reported ‘gentleman’s agreements’ we made with the likes of Clarke, Jobe etc.

Reflects well on us and I’d imagine would entice talented players to come to us knowing they won’t be held back from a big move and banned from the family BBQ.
Too fast for me:emoticon-0102-bigsm

thing is,

no one fully knows who the club is after

they are keeping targets incredibly closed to the chest.

I can see 2 cbs, DM, possibly a keeper (if moore or pattos goes to have cover- and possibly a striker,

who knows

It's all becoming a bit hysterical now imo.

And incoming players are being 'announced' a dozen times when we all know they've already signed.

Can't wait for Saturday, someone might actually mention the match <laugh>

Absolutely. But when a BBC journalist says the club are in talks to sign a mystery striker, its understandable for people to get excited. We shouldn't have to interrogate to find out his source was an internet ITK (if that was the case)

Fair enough but can McGrath be trusted, in fact can anything the media say about our club be taken as gospel...I'm in the wait and see brigade, all this speculation is a bit smoke and mirrors.

exactly

and as a journalist, you would make sure the source wasnt on the sauce and its was more a source type source, not a sauce type source

Not only can we not know for sure if he's right, but we also can't be sure what the motives are. Is it because Neil is about to sign his contract? Or is it Dan Neil's camp pressuring us into offering more money, by implying he'll leave for free otherwise next summer?

All that really matters right now is him signing his contract or not.
