Bit torn on Dovbyk tbh. Personally think €35m for him is too much. I’m all for wanting a proven striker but he’s had one decent season in a top league and he’s 28. His career was pretty underwhelming until he had his goalscoring season at Dnipro then went to Girona. Not saying he couldn’t score goals here because he likely will but for that kind of money I’m wanting more tbh, he’ll have no resale value either. Suppose if those goals keep us up this season his fee is more than worth it though.
He’s had about 3-4 good goalscoring seasons.

Including the season before last in La Liga and still got 14 G/A’s in 32 last season

I genuinely think signing a proper striker could be the difference between us staying up or getting relegated. Not convinced either mayenda or Wilson are ready for prem and haven't seen the Chelsea kid but its a massive ask to expect him to be the answer. Love mayenda btw but he's still very raw. Not convinced Wilson will cause premier defenders many problems. I'd sell him if we signed another
Took the words right out of my mouth

I don't entirely disagree but there's a few things I'd push back on for Dovbyk. He was outstanding for Girona. Top scorer in La Liga for someone not from Barca or Madrid is much more than decent. He was quite good when he was younger but picked a bad move then went to Ukraine to reignite his career but that was disrupted by the invasion so its not as unusual as it looks really. Also, if he ends up being a 10-15 goal a season striker then we can probably get our money back (more or less) if we sell him in 2 years when he's 30. I don't think we'd pay above 30m euros though.

Aye, I’m not dead against it. I don’t think every single player we sign needs resale value, ie Xhaka. Important to get a good balance. To be fair he managed 12 goals in the league last season but he only played 2400 minutes of football I think he was rotated a lot with Dybala and Shomurodov, so that’s not a bad return at all. Probably just looks a bit underwhelming because he scored double the season before and had less assists but Martinez at Inter only scored 12 in the league too.

Top of the morning to you all. Seems that lots of people got carried away last night and it's had a knock on effect on socials.

Bradders deleted his Twitter.
Others getting into lengthy exchanges and arguments about information etc.

Certainly been there with all that type stuff.

Can not please everyone all the time and the football information / rumours world changes far to quickly for 100% accuracy.

Keith has a direct line to KLD these days so that's why it's him who gets the 100% confirmation scoop. Other local people shouldn't have believed everything that they were given by some on Twitter at the time, as things change quickly, and they did.

Let's see what today brings, least we get our centre half today!
Re Bradley, I queried last night on here if he gets stuff right and the opinion was yes (some), no (the keepers), and worse (he's s hit)... I take it there was a twitter battle last night?

Glad to see Cam is still with us.

Verbal agreements may not mean anything from a legal perspective but they mean everything to an individual. These are people at the end of the day and have to be treated with respect, contract or not. As mentioned in the post above, it's something we get and excel at.

Ofcourse they mean something to an individual. However they work for a business, and the business will always look after its self.

I was quite content. I didnt particularly want another striker. Then I heard a super duper one was imminent. Now we arnt after one. Now I'm gutted and we are now relegation certainties. <laugh>

I still think we need one- not sure Mayenda/Isidor and Giui will get us enough between them , the 2 former have been pretty poor in front of goal in pre- season (when theyve played) and Giui is a total unknown

Sometimes the best way a business can look after itself is by looking after its people/employees (ie managing expectations and not making promises if you can’t/won’t keep them) and sending the right messages in that regard to future employees.

Especially when the people/employees are that businesses' main and most important and valuable assets.

whos to say we're not after another striker?

Barnes isnt the best at news sometimes or gets his lines crossed,
other reports say that we are

I’m ok with our striker options and there’s no need to bring someone in of a similar quality. However, I could see the benefit of bringing someone in who would move the needle for us. Someone with proven experience in top 5 leagues. That would be exciting.

Winger and another defender and more pressing priorities imo, but you don’t always sign players in order of where they are needed on the pitch.

would love to think that we beat our record transfer again this summer (£30 million plus).

Couldn't have put it better myself.

I believe, like others have already posted, we are streets ahead of them down the road
