Have to say the club may not get the fee they would like here. Might be a case of taking what they can get. It seems reasonably clear now there is no compromise to be had, sadly. That would have come sooner had one party or the other felt it worthwhile. It doesnt really make much sense to keep him for a year and let him go on a free. I doubt they are the sort to dig their heels in either, we seem to do right by players. This might well be a low fee with decent incentives. Ipswich wouldnt be the worst shout in the world for both parties. They get a lad who has captained a promotion team and who suits them. Dan probably gets 1st team shirt and a hefty contract. Clear shot at the prem again if that is his ambition. I would sooner that than see him at Everton or West Ham personally. Still hope he goes overseas - Seria A looks tailor made.

Can't say I disagree with that. At his pomp he is probably worth £15-20m but out of the team and with 1 year left we'd do well to get £10m, might have to accept something like £6m+£2m from a Championship club.

I imagine Stoke would want a hefty fee, people are onto how good he is now, he was great for Rotherham and then again for a struggling Stoke team, he's one of those that are very good at Championship level, for my money only the Sheff Utd lad and Trafford were better than him last season, he might be able to step up.

If he was on a 4 year deal and the club wanted to sell it would be £20m I would think. As he is in his last year I think it will be less than £10m. Clubs in Europe may fancy him, but they arent daft and will want basement price. Still, as the PSR model seems to unreasonably favour selling academy players even £5m probably gets the accountants at the clubs giving the thumbs up.

Odd choice when Stoke’s keeper is available. Think he’d be a better option than the mags 3rd choice.

Suppose it depends how much Stoke are asking.
arent stoke in a bit of bother money wise?

they are still paying for players that are no longer there and paying off managers who have left as well.
