He will stay if he thinks he’s been s hit on and go on a free at the end of the season. We don’t have a choice if he wants to stay. We do have a choice if he wants to leave.
Reports in Spain, time to find themI know it's the Chronicle and that Madrid said he was going nowhere but apparently we've put a bid in for Gonzalo Garcia

Seem like a very unreliable sourcehttps://www.fichajes.net/en/news/sunderland-insists-on-this-real-madrid-player-20250726.html
Sunderland insists on this Real Madrid player
The Sunderland continues with its strong intention to sign Gonzalo, a forward who emerged from the Real Madrid academy and has shined especially in the recent FIFA Club World Cup. His performance in that competition has caught the attention of several clubs, including Getafe, which has also shown interest in the young Spaniard.
The great offer from Sunderland.
Despite the competition, Sunderland wants to close the deal quickly and has already put forward a proposal aimed at convincing the white club. The offer consists of 15 million euros plus 5 million in variables, in addition to including a 30% share of the player's future sale. This formula shows that Sunderland believes in Gonzalo's potential and wants to ensure a deal that benefits both parties.
What makes this negotiation special is the buy-back option that Real Madrid would have. The Madrid club will be able to re-sign Gonzalo in the next two years for a fixed price of 30 million euros. After that period, Sunderland will be free to set the price if any other team shows interest, although the 30% future sale clause that would benefit Real Madrid in case the player moves to another club will remain valid.
This strategy is common in today's football and allows major teams to continue controlling the future of their young talents, even when they decide to move to other clubs to seek playing time and experience. For Gonzalo, this could be an ideal opportunity to keep growing and demonstrate his worth at a club that strongly believes in him.
Meanwhile, Getafe remains interested but does not seem willing to match the offer or the conditions set by Sunderland, giving the English club an advantage in this race.
Fichajes is usually quite a decent source I’m sureSeem like a very unreliable source

Funny that I was in Skiathos a couple of weeks back. Met a family from Tortona Italy who asked where from the North of England did I come from . Told them Northumberland. Said who is your team Newcastle or Till the end Sunderland. Said them Sunderland and he went ahh Sunderland till I die. A few days ago he copied a post circulating around Italy. It was a collage of photos with Jermaine Defoe and little Bradley and praising the club/foundation for giving tickets for ill people. The number of positive comments on this post was amazing. Mental how Sunderland AFC have become positively known across the globeCurrently on holiday in Bulgaria for 2wks. It's a beautiful place. We head on over to an archery game at 15:30.
Ahhh you from England.

You won't have heard of them....... Sunderland.
Ahhh Sunderland, Jermaine Defoe and you've just signed Granit Xhaka. My 17yo is sitting back loving it.
