There’s a hell of a lot of heavy lifting being done by one slick move in that short period, mind. Plus it was a move that Sadiki was completely absent from - and actually hinged on elf doing something that he’s completely failed to do for Neil in dropping deep. Other than that moment it was more of the same.
Yes, but apart from that it clearly shows it was Neil that was the problem

Did you watch the games in Portugal? Because Sadiki has literally been the highlight for me

Yep today was clearly Neils fault, no argument from me.

Lots said it constantly and after all its the worst he has ever played so its clearly his fault.
The loss wasn’t Neil’s fault no. IMO Neil’s style slowed down our midfield compared to the last few games. Do I think that makes him a bad player? No. I just think he might not fit what we are trying to do

So I’ve just watched every champions league goal conceded by Riznyk and watched as many clips of his saves as I can. Without being able to see him in full 90s this is what I’ve gathered imo

pros:
- in one on ones he’s good at making himself big, he adopts the ‘starfish’ pose as I call it very well when keepers spread their limbs and sees him make saves. I’m sure this has a proper name but I can’t remember it so I’ll call it a starfish
- reflexes are very good, reacts quickly to a lot of things
- think he’s around 6”3? But seems very long. His arms have a good reach and has saved penalties with his legs.
- couple of shaky moments with the ball but ultimately backs himself enough on it

cons:
- seen him done a couple of times by a fake shot, goes down quickly leaving an open goal.
- seen him wrong footed a couple of times.
- has a parry first approach from what I can see, sometimes it goes back into danger. Would like him to catch more or push away

They’re fixable of course and he’s only 26.

He definitely seems a step up from Patterson on the limited things I can see.

Not sure if it's already been said, but Hearts have played 4 competitive games already, and their league campaign starts next weekend.

We aren't where they are.

Watched them all. Sadiki has been great, today apart. But there was no evidence that we were ‘much faster’ with Sadiki as 6 today. We were just as slow. One good move during that period which had nowt whatsoever to do with Sadiki and was all about elf finally getting involved. I’m sure that NS will get that starting spot on day one unless we get another midfielder in. However conclusive statements about Neil versus Noah purely on the basis of today are a massive reach. They’d have to only take into account the bad stuff Neil did and completely ignore the greater volume of poor play from Sadiki.

Fair enough, I have no idea what we are trying to do apart from build a squad to survive in them league.

That doesn't mean every shiny new player is above criticism and the old players are instantly ****e, they should all be judged the same and sadiki didnt have a great game today, le fee was pretty anonymous but its a friendly so im not too stressed

Yes they both were but neil suits a slower game more

I’m not sure why we’re so upset about this, he does imo. Good footballer by all means

It’s pre season but
We need a striker
Midfield leadership
Options on the wing
Leadership at cb
Our left back fit

No change really but the striker position has become clear

There were a couple of goals I’d like to have seen him do better with also

Need another 7 of high quality in asap, right down the spine.

we’ve given ourselves a decent start with the business so far but we can’t let that slip.

Christ. Patto and Rigg still 10-14 days away and only hopeful for the first PL game. .

No choice now, can not have Moore starting a PL game.
I would have been fine with him starting 1-2 games through the season. However the first game is different. A lot riding on our ability to get going. Tough one for the club given it seems that they don’t have loads of players they really cover for that role.

If this is the case why have we loaned out young he can’t be worse than the other 2 gk’s currently available at the club unless a gk signing is close

Worth noting that Shaktar Donetsk sold GK Anatoliy Trubin to Benfica a few years ago for €10m and he’s now worth €28m according to transfermarkt. So hopefully we can get a good deal for Riznyk below €15m.
