Not itk, have never implied I am, but heard from someone who occasionally gets little bits and bobs that DN has asked for a minimum of £70k pw and that's where it all fell apart. Leaning more to him leaving atm.
If that’s true then that’s poor on his part.

Diarra is on that level of wages and he looks far superior.

Mate, there's only like 18 people who live in Antwerp and 7 of them are scared of flying. Stands to reason it must be Lammens.

Grew up in Belgium.

Antwerp isn't a particularly small place at all and it's filled with multi multi millionaires in the diamond trade.

Diamonds and raping colonial Africa built that city. Old money, new money. There's plenty about.

Besides, if it's a footballer I'd wager it's one that isn't linked heavily to United.

I love your eagerness and I love the guessing game but I would call this one putting two and two together and getting Depeche Mode.

I hope I'm wrong because he sounds like a class bet.

I hope it was clear my "there's only 18 people in Antwerp" was tongue in cheek?

The Dan Neil situation is a bit "heart vs head" for me...as others have said - my heart says that I`d love him to stay and earn his place in the starting 11 - as a professional footballer he will know that his place has to be earnt - it always will have been, even when he was in the junior ranks; he will know better than any of us that is just how it works.

I haven`t seen the pre-season games so can`t comment on the performances of the "first half" midfield but, if what most on here are saying is true and the new lads are a step above then DN`s head may well be asking him if he genuinely thinks he`ll get a game...he knows his position in the squad better than any of us do, he`ll pick up on what`s happening in training, in discussions with the club, in conversations around the dressing room. DN will know that the play off final was not his best game but will also know why (fatigue, nerves, local lad weight of the occasion, etc.).

Is he good enough for the PL - probably
Does he back himself to get a start - we`ll find out
Is his performance in the pre-season games because his nose is out of joint at the minute - maybe
Has RLB asked him to play in the second half 11 to help out as he (RLB) knows DN`s strengths already - maybe
What are the reasons he hasn`t agreed the new contract - none of us know - easy to speculate but impossible to know...

I want him to stay for the romance of it all

If he feels it`s time for him to move on then he goes with my heartfelt gratitude for his contribution and with me wishing him the very best for his future.

We`ll find out soon enough...

Has he ever suffered before? He is about the fittest lad at the club.

The day got to him. First time I have seen it happen. I dont see any premier league game having the same emotional or pyschological demands as that day and all the build up.

He didnt have a good game. That is not im dispute. But I wouldnt use that as a yardstick for whether he can or cannot cut it in the prem. We have a sample size of 200 games to go on after all.
Out of those 200 games how many did he look prem quality in? I would say maybe 20% at most

I forgot! congratulations. glad it must have gone well?

Terrible! <laugh>

20 hour labour. Wife lost a litre of blood. Kid ended up in NICU for a couple of days, mum and kid had to stay in hospital five days with all manner of bumps and bruises but both just got out today and it looks like they are on the mend.

Good news was the first labour was 22 hours and she lost 2.5 litres of blood, so we know for a fact it could have been worse.

There will be no third kid. Not a ****ing chance!!!

Mate sounds like you're through it at least. We had a similar situation with our second one and I know how horrendous it is in that moment which feels neverending. Fantastic they're home now.

Congratulations and wish you well - I would ask doctors to confirm if wife needs Iron and other supplements to make up for loss of blood - don't want the lass to get anaemia.

Yeah she needs to take iron tablets but I don't think she will be able to take them for the next week or so given the terrible combination of their side effects and her ear wounds. But you're spot on.

Horrific. Glad to hear she’s (hopefully) okay and your little one is fine too.
