Maybe, just maybe a few agents have tried to screw us over on a number of deals, after all they won't know us too well.
The club may well have decided to draw a very public line in the sand.
It will be interesting to see if other deals now move forward.
BTW Talbi is a right winger
I’m of the opinion players are part of the problem. If they are dumb enough to trust sharks they can’t be excused. They need to make the agents work for them and can’t hide behind them.Lauriente really needs new agents. Should've gotten him a big move after 22/23, didn't. Should've gotten him a move after relegation in 23/24, didn't. And now can't get him a move to the PL to work with his old manager. So poor.
You can tell just by watching him imo. Looks more comfortable on the left. He was moved to RW when Brugge sold theirsThis!
I know a few people are saying we should just move Talbi onto the LW, but that's clearly not what the club has in mind.
He's only ever played 10 games in his career off the left wing for starters, and the club wouldn't have spent 20m on him without knowing his best position.
The club also wouldn't have been about to sign Lauriente for 20m, having already spent 20m on Adingra, if they they thought Talbi's best position was left wing...that doesn't make sense to me.

I agree but we do need a non afcon LW if mundle stays ****ed.You can tell just by watching him imo. Looks more comfortable on the left. He was moved to RW when Brugge sold theirs
Yeah that's how it was eventually span. He's bad mouthed Sassoulo at every turn.Thats a poor comment
He decided to stay and came to an agreement to help them get back up last season…had offers he said no hence why he can leave now
There was a interview somewhere with the new guy at Arsenal, where he said he lines up 3 deals at a time to the point of medicals ready to take place etc and then a decision is made on which signing they actually want to do
I know we wouldn’t have pulled out due to that but when Talbi arrived we said he could play both flanks which he can.The club clearly disagree though. Otherwise we wouldn't have been about to spend another 20m on Lauriente.
And we've not pulled out of that deal based on a quiet 45 minutes of Talbi at RW in a friendly.

So him and his agent have ****ed the deal up for themselves? Rightio off they popLaurienté's transfer to Sunderland skipped: he returns to Sassuolo

Laurienté's transfer from Sassuolo to Sunderland skipped: no agreement found on the contract
Armand Laurienté will not become a new Sunderland player and is ready to return to Italy, more precisely to Sassuolo.
The striker born in 1998 had already flown to Portugal to join the pre-season training camp of the English club.
Now, however, the transfer has been skipped due to problems encountered between the parties on the contractual details on the player's side.
Laurienté is therefore preparing to return to Italy having not found the right fit and will join Fabio Grosso's Sassuolo training camp.

Unless his agent/player has asked for more money based on the Mundle injury and we’ve immediately thought “We don’t want that type of character at the club”. If we’ve got him over for a medical and on a plane, I can’t imagine it’s us who have tried changing the terms of the deal last second, particularly with us now without Mundle. I’m reading it as they’ve chanced their arm, pissed us off and we’ve told them to **** off.
Hmm shame. Hopefully he can light it up but I thought he looked a bit quiet and uncomfortable on that side but it was his first game I suppose.I’m only dipping in and out of this thread so apologies if this has already been posted but here are the comments from the club website from when we signed him.
Kristjaan Speakman added: “Our momentum and story are powerful, and I think players of Chemsdine’s calibre, who are in high demand, are excited by the prospect of playing for Sunderland AFC. It’s a testament to our recent past and immediate future that he feels this we are the right Club for his next step. Predominantly playing wide right, Chemsdine excels in duels and possesses elite physical qualities, and he also has flexibility to play across the frontline. Our supporters will rightly be excited to see him play, and we are delighted to welcome him to Sunderland.”
Speakman’s opinion probably has more weight Bart Tamsyn’s. It’s clear to me that the club have signed him initially for the right side.
