I’d really like to see movement on a centre back next 3 days.

I know I know, deals take time. I don’t need patronising.

But I’d like to see one so that they can begin integrating as well as the other new lads seem to be.

If we failed in our CB targets and then went back for Meps do you think he would come? Obviously we are trying for better but may well have p*ssed him off. At the end of the season I just thought it was a given.

Interesting question. I don’t think Bournemouth would sell him at the moment as they’re short at the back. I think he would come though yes. He seemed to really like it here.

One of the most fundamental questions in modern football I think. Football has become biased towards signing players on bigger wages than those who have come through the academy. It is a real flaw in the model of how football is setup, and PSR plays a terrible part in that. Modern football is built on foundations of sand, and at some point it will collapse like a house of cards. It will rebuilt on academy talent, not £20m tfrs in my opinion.

Are they worth the same as the new lads? If I were Neil and I was offered less than Talbi I would be offended. Put it that way.

It seems to me players get bigger salaries by moving clubs. So take Le Fee, who I dont doubt is a talented footballer. Good start to his career and gets the move and no doubt the salary bump. Move doesnt really work out and he moves on, maybe another salary bump. Again move doest really move work out and moves again. Does any of that add up to a reported £60k a week? Anyone can have an opinion yes or no, but to get him yoi have to at least match what he is on. In Neils case you dont have to do that at all, you can play hard ball much more. Maybe more so with a lad who is desperate to lead and play for his boyhood club.

So the processes behind modern football mean Dan may well want £60k a week. I dont know. Maybe he only wants £30k a week, again no idea. My dislike is that he could probably move and get more than he could by staying. West Ham have held an intersest, as have other top 5 league clubs. His agent will know what he can expect elsewhere. But it is in the clubs interest to not pay his going rate in many ways thanks to financial rules. Any homegrown player is a victim if circumstance to an extent.

For the record I would pay him more than Talbi and Lauriente, less than Diarra and Lee Fee. That is based on view of their ability and contribution I think they will make to the squad. I doubt it happens because of what I have said earlier, but in football terms that is how I see it.
Not that desperate if he has not signed. Dragging feet in championship. Think its probably more agent than Dan hinself

What I can’t grasp is the Leeds love in on TikTok about Sunderland massively overpaying for everyone we’ve signed apparently, all initiated by offering £4m more than you for a very highly rated midfield prospect - yet £20m for a nearly 27 year old Stach is apparently incredible business.. then the same folk saying we’re signing players from poor leagues (think every signing we’ve made has been from a top 5 league) whilst you’re looking at Paixao from Eredivisie.

£10m isn’t a lot of money really in the grand scheme of things when Diarra will likely go up in value and Stach is probably as expensive as he’ll ever be unless he turns into a world beater this season. I’ve never heard of any fanbase complain that they’re spending too much money, as long we play by PSR then it means **** all.

I’d hedge my bets one of us gets relegated so come the end of the season one set of fans will undoubtedly come back to haunt the other over all of this nonsense anyway :emoticon-0102-bigsm
I avoid TikTok and X they’re like drive by shootings, I’d much prefer to debate on a forum where you get to know the character, you’ve got some knowledgable posters and you’ve those who just love hating it’s the same on every forum.

I’ve said my opinion on a couple of your signings already, new news has also been forwarding on our own forum with a poster who does actually have a small amount of inside info.

I’m not going to start going into it all or we end up waving the flags too. Betting men would say all three to go down, you think you’ll finish above Leeds, I think you’ll be below us, a long season ahead with lots of twists and turns I’m sure

Redbull scouting network and connections too

To be honest, there are plenty of Leeds fans and equally as many Sunderland fans waving the our signings are better than yours flag.

If it was all about Leeds v Sunderland then we’ll both risk going down. We both need each other to make good signings, we need to both stay up.

I’m over the moon with our signings, some good bargains early doors and Longstaff was a steal, we’ve seemingly got Stach and if we get Paixao then it’s going to jump a whole new level.

I'd like both teams to see both teams stay up and both teams have done differing but interesting business this summer. Its teams like Brentford, West Ham and Bournemouth I'm looking at with interest.

The worst thing about league one and the championship was the continual false rivalries made, I know its largely down to modern day social media, I'd hoped we'd be past all that now but this summer it seems otherwise. I know we have some history, and ultimately we may be battling for a relegation place but let's just enjoy the summer while we can.

Preseason is the best part, we get excited about links, hammer YouTube for footage, discuss where signings will slot in, no pressure of winning a game, no spoilt weekends after a defeat, it’s when the season starts it begins to go tits up ;)

all any of us promoted clubs can do is hope we are “doing it” better than the other two and at least one other.

nobody will know who’s done it “right” until Christmas at the earliest.

I’ve got no problem with Leeds and Burnley fans being happier with their business than ours. If they can’t enjoy the lead up to a premier league season then when can they.

My hope for us is that even if we do go down, which is still probably more likely than not, we’ve invested in talent that will be sellable at a profit, or if not will be able to grow with us back in the championship.

I love what we’ve done and I wouldn’t change it. But I wouldn’t expect Leeds or Burnley fans to be saying “oh no I wish we were doing what Sunderland are.” You absolutely should be backing your club to finish above us.
