Aye hes a quality footballer, can play wide right or as an AM

Not sure he would cost a ridiculous amount, City seem to be sensible when selling their youngsters
There would inevitably be a buy back and sell on, but they don't take the piss.

In the same boat mate.

I would have preferred Henderson on a free.
The way I look at the Henderson vs Xhaka 'debate' is Xhaka improves the team and Henderson doesn't

Of course that will come as at a higher cost, however, it also improves the team massively imo

Both bring top draw leadership qualities, but Henderson brings the local knowledge and knowing the club better

Xhaka would honestly be a ridiculous signing regardless of his age

Yep likely would be both

Sure I read they were looking at selling some academy players for PSR, obviously they'll sell Mcatee but wonder if they would prefer to sell someone like Bobb instead of O'reilly

Henderson will do more with helping the likes of Neil etc.. Xhaka will take away their game time.

I honestly can't see this happening anyway.

The athletic siad they are gunna let bobb, oreilly, stone and kovacic go

youd think oreilly would be loan though he done really well last season

Xhaka will help the younger players as well though, he's an elite pro

Neil hasn't even signed a contract yet

We have to look at improving our team if we are to stand any chance of staying up, Xhaka massively does that. If neil signs a new deal he will learn from him and hopefully play well enough that he starts alongside him

If we signed Henderson we would be paying a high wage on someone who doesn't improve the starting line up

I dont want us to just sign experienced players for the sake of it, but signing experienced players that massively improve the team is big for me

I cant see the deal happening tbf, I just think it would be huge if we pulled this off

But that would imply Hendo as more or less a coach, or mentor character, if he isn't taking game time away.

Hendo would obviously have been a good presence, but we are just up, after eight years out. We will need everyone running to have a chance.

No complaints there when he’s the much better player

Xhaka is a better shout for captain than Neil too tbh

Why would you hold that position? Outrageous comment :emoticon-0100-smile

I agree Henderson wouldn't have taken away game time, because he's not good enough to. But we need actual starters and Xhaka is. As much as I rate Neil, we couldn't go into a PL season with Neil and Henderson as our only real DM's. Neil has huge question marks surrounding him in terms of his contract and his ability to step up, adding Henderson to that would've been pointless as he isn't good enough to step in if Neil doesn't adapt quickly and if Neil doesn't sign the contract we would've had to bring in another DM anyway. Whereas we can probably get away with Xhaka being the only DM if Neil does leave.

Haha I know

Tbf I've been one of the biggest fans of our policy of signing young players - was saying its what we should be doing for years. That should be our core policy and we should never go away from that, but think adding some experience alongside them elevates the younger players

I think players like Moore, Mepham, Browne, Isidor and Le Fee helped the youngsters so much last season with their experience

I assumed he’d only be available for loan, would probably combust if he came on a perm

It’s a squad balance thing for me - although I’m certain Xhaka is a much bigger positive on the pitch. Henderson was experience and low demand for minutes wrapped up in a free transfer. Xhaka comes with a bigger financial commitment along with a desire to get 3000 prem minutes. That doesn’t leave as many for Neil, ELF, Rigg, Diarra and Sadiki. Mind I’d have preferred another 20 year old YouTube sensation wonderkid over either. And that comes with its own problems:emoticon-0102-bigsm
Think henderson will expect decent minutes like
