If he wants some level of parity I back him tbh. But he is fighting one of footies last great oddities - home grown lads have to leave to earn the top dollar on offer. It is a mad outcome of PSR. Whatever he does I will never ever criticise his purported motives. Folk will guess like they did with Watson. Neil brought this club back from the wilderness as skipper, aided and abetted by a motley crew of rag tag lads. Now they get to play and earn as they see fit and owe us nothing at all. The six or seven from league one will always be complete heroes to me.

Away from the Xhaka rumour

Carlos Forbs is set to join Club Brugge from Ajax, here we go! Deal done for €8.5m fee.

Really intrigued to see how Forbs gets on over there, I had high hopes when I scouted him years ago for City's youth team but never really kicked on. Ridiculous pace, really explosive and has lovely balance about him. Hope he kicks on in Belgium

Well IF we can get him, then clearly he will be the best we can get.

And if he isn't a "standout", so what? We aren't going to have many if any players who are that in the PL.

In all honesty , I'd settle for being good, and I very much think he'll be a serious asset to any promoted team. Especially one that has spent eight years outside of it

There's definitely a lot of footballers that's true, season before last I genuinely would have put him in my top 10 defensive midfielders in the world.

But I just love his genre of footballer so that helps with some bias.
