There’s surely levels of data and even then it comes down to interpretation? With all due respect to the (good) posters on here talking about it, most of the data they have access to or are quoting is pretty base level stuff. Some more than others.

There’s a whole myriad of information out there - I’d suggest the secret to being a good, smart, effective data led club doesn’t see you going out to just compete for the keeper with the best goal/xGOT prevention stats but instead sees you identifying something in more detailed underlying data that others perhaps don’t and that you believe you can utilise or work on to your benefit. Won’t necessarily be obvious to outside observers.
That’s not much underlying data to goalkeeping though. You can obviously attribute facing more shots to eventually having a higher xG against but it doesn’t change the xGoT performance that is the standard of every individual shot faced

I'd love to see data on goalkeepers touches with feet under pressure (opposition player within 10 yards) and then pass completion under those conditions, things like that, If I'm thinking about it I'm sure there's someone out there trying to collate that data.

I don't recall Ramsdale regularly claiming crosses at any point in his career so I would be worried about that. I think we need someone very comfortable with that just due to the height disparity in our current midfield.

this is the one I want
Same, he has the highest upside of all the GKs we've been linked with - and I don't think it's close

I do think Petrovic and Bulka are both a level above him at the minute but he is younger

He's a PL calibre GK already and I hope we'd be all over that

We've been scouting the belgium league for a while so hoping we've been scouting him

I think he has a bit of Tommy Sorensen about him

Fear not mate....there must be half a dozen on this thread working on it as we speak! I didn't realise all these stats existed!

I'd be surprised if we haven't enquired about him considering his profile, once you start looking for keepers that fit what we're looking for his name pops up quickly. I assume he's not available or the club have seen something that suggest he's not quite ready.

Yeah i think we would have enquired, @JimHeron92 thought Antwerp might be wanting too much for him and that would end the deal quickly

As you said he's one that stands out. I didn't think he was great at playing out from the back, he's not a liability just not what the top top sides would probably want so that might put teams off him

he was extremely tenuously linked the other day. That said, our other Belgian signing Talbi kinda came out of nowhere and this might be the same.

However Lammens has been linked with Utd, Spurs etc so he may well have already turned us down and biding his time.

I live in hope it happens!!

So if the club are going for Ramsdale do you believe they're ignoring the xGOT prevented or haven't the knowledge/awareness of it?

No I think they are very well aware of it. The report that came out last week about us looking for a 'placeholder' GK after missing out on longer term options (Bulka, Petrovic), kind of makes sense with Ramsdale, if the fee is low. He'll save what he's meant to save and concede what he's meant to concede.

Sorry, I should have responded to this at the same time but of course there is. I can guarantee the club will be considering a load more data on keepers than what is being quoted here.

Tbh, I’d hope not, he’s there to an improve a keeper he’s not a scout nor has he necessarily worked with the level of keeper the club want to move forward
Martinez.

Would be a bit mad your keeper coach wasnt in the loop when assessing which keepers to bring in. Specialist position requires specialist knowledge.

Would you not look to use the loan market for a place holder rather than committing a chunk of your budget and PSR manoeuvrability?

Tbf looking at the alternatives on the market id almost just say **** it and pay if it's €25m they want.

Need a reliable goalkeeper and 2 solid CBs and we are in a significantly better place, I've definitely come around to spending a lot of what's left to maximize those 3 positions as it's such a difference maker.
