They certainly weren’t at the time. He had a spell of being terrible whilst looking like he didn’t wanna be there.
Agreed, at the time. Players are human though and I think fans need to give them a bit of compassion sometimes. Don't fix an opinion and be be prepared / give players a chance to earn respect back. I've thought about posting this before but maybe Watson wouldn't have scored the winner without signing for Brighton early then committing to knuckle down in training to be able to contribute and change fans' opinions.

cannot say fans were wrong for doubting Tommy Watson when he hasn’t done anything. Yes he scored in the playoff final that is it
Plenty said they didnt want him in the squad evet again. It was silly season really. We had an ill equipped Le Fee on left wing, as Mundle was out. Had Regis ostracised Watson and done what soms fans wanted we would almost certainly still be in the championship. When you have a quality player, you should play that player. Same as we did with Bellingham.

This is pure conjecture and I have no idea what our budget is or who we’re going to buy, but if it were me I’d be tempted to spend big money on x2 CB and a GK. would really move the needle as you say. Can potentially fill other gaps the squad with loans. £60 mil on a pair of centre halves would make me feel v confident about our chances next season.

The club are still working to the same rules in terms of recruitment, they've just scaled it up. This is the difference between spending big money in midfield and up front compared to defence imo.

If Diarra has a good season or 2 at this level, he'll be a £50-60m sale.

A £30m keeper or CB would have to look world class this year to go past £40m.

Our future transfer business will rely on selling that one big player each season and reinvesting.

Or qualifying for the CL, which is preferred

1 game only I think. Even then the lad will have been going through it emotionally after everything. He stepped up last season a lot and is now in our folklore.
I’m leaning towards 3 games where I’ve thought - is this lad for real? Doesn’t matter now though. Cheers Tommy, good luck
