I wonder what the reaction would be on here if he was from France and we hadnt seen much of him but was linked and someone put that highlights reel up? We would probably be saying £25m is a bargain.

I dont think much of highlight reels. Certainly not to judge a player. But it gives a sense of the capability, if not the fallibilities. Dan has so much quality and I remain convinced he is the perfect modern day deep midfielder. Like every footballer, he has weaknesses, but in his case they are massively outweighed.

I grow increasingly worried he is away. I will be absolutely devasted. Folk who dont think sentimentality has a place in football may well be right. I choose to be sentimental as it brings me joy in the game. Dan is a pure joy footballer for me, I love him to bits. If he goes it will take some getting over for me. Not the first footballer to have moved me like he has, and wont be the last. Just hope it is overseas and not premier league, in Italy he would be absolutely idolised and a talent like his deserves that.
I'm with you about Neil. Completely undervalued by so many

Still all in on Mayenda me, so spending a big amount on a striker to come straight in was never one I was too bothered about. A project striker with a bit of experience would be fine for me.

Centre back is where Id like the bigger fees (that £20m range) to go on now followed by a keeper.

Then it will be cheaper options / frees / loans to fill out the rest of the squad. Still think there will be some high quality signings from the loan market, especially nearer the end of the window.

I def don't want Neil to go but feels like he will go

Been really quiet on the contract front and everything I've heard is he isn't signing it. The club will have a deadline in mind and if it's not signed by then I could see him moving on

Could we sign better than him, of course but we could equally sign worse than him. There's something special with having academy lads in the team and while I think there's areas of his game that will likely get found out at the next level, I could also see him improving in these

I want him to stay but my gut feeling is he will be away
So,genuine question, what do you think the reason might be.....salary,length of contract, buy out clause...where would contract negotiations flounder do you think?

He’s really good at almost everything

Except finishing

His finishing is slightly poor but his worst attribute is actually scoring headers

He had 158 shots with a total xG 28.5 underscoring by 7.5

Of those 158 65 were headers. He only scored 3. The 65 headers were 8.56xG

So without headers it was 93 shots 18 goals with an xG of 19.94 so he only under scored xG by 2 without headers

6”6 but can’t score headers is funny

Would be a cracking addition though as he’s a nightmare for defender, strong, quick, can hold the ball up every well and his finishing especially in the air can be worked on.
At least he wins the headers, be good defending set pieces.

One thing Ive noticed on the video montage of Tolo a few pages back is that most of his goals come from him being centrally in the box right between the posts which is where you want your striker to be. I reckon with the right coaching his finishing will improve even though he looks a capable finisher already in his highlights (not many scuffed finishes)

I love Mayenda but he’s still very raw, this season will be the true making of him though

Time to focus defensive targets imo.if you don't concede you don't lose.
It got Burnley off to a good start last season.

Aye. The only striker linked in my opinion that brings more than Mayenda will is the lad from Lyon. The rest I am not seeing much benefit from thh.

I do have doubts about Isidor in the prem if I am honest. I think he will get bullied too easily. So a striker is on my wishlist and the Lyon lad would have had me dancing with joy. Hope the club pull something out of the bag here. Or we get completely blown away by Abdullahi. I know very little, other than he looks a complete physical presence.

Of course it has to be tight at the back....but no-one survives in this league if they can't score goals. Our attacking play will ultimately decide our fate this season.

I feel he actually does everything as a striker good

except finish. Like he’d be perfect to see games out I can’t really pick a fault in the rest of his game

with some top coaches his finishing will improve

it might also be a case of in tougher scenarios where you get less chances he might switch on more. He knows he’s getting 5/6/7 chances arm
I am fearful of Belgian league strikers that are over 6ft 3

But to be optimistic, all it takes is one good season, even an anomaly
