This is why I was disappointed in both of them saying no. It's not like there's a neverending list of available top keepers. At some point we'd have to start compromising.

There's compromising then there's looking at a keeper who can't concentrate for 90mins. I'd be baffled to be honest.
There's also a chance we had a list of 3 we were looking to target - Bulka, Petrovic and Perri and if now all three are off we are scrambling for options. May have just enquired on Ramsdale's price and thats been enough to get it leaked to talksport.

Of course we can be picky though, there are better keepers available for less. We won't compromise for ramsdale.
Not sure its as bad as you're making out tbh. I don't think he's going to sign but I don't think he gets to 187 PL appearances being as bad as you're suggesting.
So? If he was some disaster case who only concentrates for 70 minutes he doesn't stay for 2 full seasons as Arsenal's number 1. They wanted an upgrade when they went for the title. That's a different market to us.
He also doesn't stay all season as Southampton's keeper last season.
He's decent. Anyone saying otherwise is just disappointed we're not getting one of the elite, which I get. We were promised a world class keeper and instead we might just get a decent one.
Como are signing Perrone so we will have a free run at Rongier, personally I’d rather bring JH home on a free then spend €10M on him.
Ramsdale is a good keeper, better than Patto but has relegation attached to him. Can see why some would have reservations. Also I wouldn’t mind Johnstone, would be cheap and he provides good competition for Patto, as well as experience, and like I’ve said previously, I’m fine with Patto being no1 heading into the season.
Actually, while thinking while writing this, I think I’d prefer Johnstone to Ramsdale, not as a keeper, but for our squad configuration.

He could’ve said no to going to those teams to avoid having a relegation on his CV too, as a lot of players do.
