The Echo are normally ones to pour cold water. This is the opposite.

Unless Copley has been incredibly clumsy

I just hope Copley isn't simply reporting rumours. The fact he doesn't refer to the original journalist nor the Telegraph suggests its his take rather than reporting others.

Yes they should taken into account. But frankly, though I've never been to Frankfurt, I don't think they have a Jacky White's market there. So they can be discounted I'd say.

Who knows.

The Echo would normally pour cold water.

I'd have expected them to say "but some reports say its not so close" if this was simply their commentary on the rumours.

There is a risk of course James has just left out the bit about other outlets pouring water and has been incredibly clumsy with the language of the headlines for click bait

In the headline yeh. But then in the body says this. The Echo using language such as "understood to be close" is as committed as they get.

If the echo are reporting that the deal is close they would’ve done an exclusive, this is just a bit they have done on the website, they are just going off other reports I think here

I sent the Petrovic news to a mag mate of mine when it first broke and he just replied with ‘oh **** off man’

I hope we get him confirmed just so I can wind him up again. <laugh>

I do share this doubt, I just wonder why they wouldn't reference the other reports that have said its NOT close. They must think it is. Or its just very carelessly clumsy from James.
