I agree. I'm all for competition, but 18m would be a lot to spend when I fully expect Hume to make the step up and play most games. Honestly, I would have been happy with Hume starting, and Huggins/O'Nien as cover.
Invest that 18m into a winger, or elsewhere.

I know the order of signings doesn't matter. But I think I'd be more comfortable spending £18m on a right back if I knew we were going to spend similar on a right or left winger.

Doue is another fullback who can play right back, wing back or CB in a 3.

I’d be really surprised especially if it’s a championship club. You could pick up probably half a dozen keepers for peanuts in that division who will do as a job as Patto at that level. For that kind of money I think they’d shop abroad, nobody in the champ is spending £10m+ on a keeper.
