I do think the minutes thing is tough and it’s gonna be hard to keep three strikers happy. That being said, I think all three could feasibly play wide too as a route to minutes - particularly if we’re set up to sit deep and break.

42000 minutes to share around next season. I expect us to aim for a smaller core than most are anticipating (similar to this year - that’s just RLB I think) and the likes of Mayenda who can contribute both wide or centrally will have a better chance to get a decent share.

Hence my exchange with CR17, we don't need two players for each position.... we need flexibility of players being able to play multiple positions. Peps even looking at sliming down his squad, so as not to have too many unhappy players not in the 16, or is it 17, who can get on the field on a Saturday.

Match day 20 next season which helps a touch. Mind, that just means 7 players sitting on the bench getting pissed off about not getting on instead of this seasons 5:emoticon-0102-bigsm

He doesn’t have a problem with quality of depth though. We do. It needs serious work

Yeh better sides can “afford” fewer players and a smaller squad because of the quality of those players being able fill multiple roles at a high level.

we can sign versatile players but they won’t be able to perform those additional roles at such a high level in the way the elite players can. Even someone like Lauriente and Mundle, both of whom “can” play right wing, neither of them are that good there versus their main role on the left.

We of course have to find a balance and not have a massive squad with lots of players unhappy, but at the same time we have to sacrifice and risk a bit of disharmony to ensure we have the right coverage in the squad. It’s a balance we have to find.

Don't think Hackney massively improves us, see his role being similar to Riggs

Also on the strikers thing, wouldn't be surprised to see us use the 442 that we used at times last season which would require at least two starting strikers and two on the bench which we currently only have 2 really

He won’t like.

He is quality and a great fit for us and our progression, but he is a long way short of CL clubs at the minute.

We could potentially make bank selling him to one in 2-3 seasons, but he was going to Como, not Inter.

We’ve a great chance at him as he will play here.
