Totally agree with you, a lot of what I say is tongue in cheek... That said...a good measure of "true" fans is when both clubs were in League 1...Both clubs didn't fill their respective stadiums and both had questionable seasons in that league. Over their time in League 1 Leeds averaged around 25k...Sunderland averaged 31k. You are right tho' Leeds are a massive club and yes they do have great fanatical support, but seemingly when the chips are down....they are not so keen to maintain their support
Up until the arrival of Don Revie as manager in the 1960's Leeds were a yo-yo club that flitted between the first and second divisions and had never won a trophy. We had never been outside of the first division until the late 1950's and had won the league 6 times. Leeds were "big" briefly in the 1970's but that's 50 years ago. I haven't checked but I think they still haven't won as many trophies as us

My brain can't cope with all of this, its like a fever dream. Nah, we're actually about to start our eighth season in League One. Kaz Sterling is our number 9 and Danny Graham has been tempted out of retirement for 'one last dance'. Remi Matthews is in goal and still chucks them in his own net, we've just been outbid for John Marquis by Stevenage but we've got faith in the mighty Josh Scowen as our primary playmaker. This will be our year!
I remember people wanting the CM from Plymouth (Camara whose now at Dundee Utd) because he played well against us, wanting Cole Stockton because he scored a few goals (now at Salford), wanting Johnson clarke-Harris (ok this was mostly Monty) and wanting us to splash cash as that appartently shows ambition.

The club has been transformed in such a short space of time. KLD had to come in and build the fountains because of the previous 2 owners. KS had to implement the vision with no data or recruitment team in place. Bruce had to come in and sort the commercial side out because we weren't maximising our potential or maximising the exposure we got from Netflix.

Mistakes have been made along the way but every mistake seems to have been learned from and we have gone from strength to strength

We all deserve to be excited this summer as we were there during the dark days. I lost all hope in the club with the appointment of Parkinson, I thought we were done - i had no pride or joy in my club anymore.

Wow that's changed now, I love the journey we've been on and this summer is going to be 1 I just sit back and enjoy

What a team what a club what a forum

You've articulated that better than I ever could, but that is exactly how I feel. The journey since that 2021/22 playoff campaign has been out of this world. I worried during those dark days that I might never get to see us back in the top flight within my Dads lifetime, yet here we are preparing to do just that next season. Its what we all dreamed of when KLD took over, but I could never have imagined it to have gone like this.

I find it very satisfying that all those players who knocked us back, are floundering nowhere. I said it years back that I couldn't wait for the time we pass them on the way back up.
