I also think you could be forgetting that we are up against some world-class wingers this season, Cirkin got caught out at champ level, never mind facing Salah, Mbuemo, Cherki, Foden, Amad, Palmer, Saka etc. Cirkin/Alese can't be our main left back options for me, no chance
See I think I want a first choice LB and not left back cover, although you might have meant that.
Two options. Either we don't really know what the **** we're doing, or our ambition and capacity for improvement is WAY larger than we've previously anticipated. Obviously hoping for the latter

Not forgetting at all. Just thinking about priorities in what I assumed would be a summer where our scope is naturally limited to some extent. LB is down the list for sure. Although maybe that's not the case!

The bulka fee estimated just under 20 can be totally offset by selling homegrown Patterson and improves us, it's smart like you say.
There were times when we didn't look that solid at the back. Lots of brave blocking,last ditch touches and Pattos legs often came to our aid.We were especially vulnerable from the flanks at times,particularly our left.
I meant cover tbh. Working from first to last, starting lb is way down the list for me in a world where we've got to maximise a tight budget. Seems things might not be so tight though!
