Hopefully. We'll see as the summer progresses. It's all about money onto the pitch. Does this lad end up being enough of a step up from Mundle to warrant committing that £15m here instead of elsewhere? Does signing Bischoff for a third of the price and putting that £10m into a better right winger see us better off? Or even saving that money for future seasons? Does replacing the standout performers on promotion have a corrosive impact on our long term ability to recruit and develop talent? Being a bit negative with that last one but they are all interesting questions that we'll see the answer to in time. Speakman has earned our trust for sure, though.
He will be starting ahead of Mundle imo, he's played top flight football in some top leagues majority of his career and is wanted by Roma and Marseille. He's a quality player.

Mundle is our only left winger; we have zero other left wingers. He also had two hamstring injuries in the same season. We are in the PL, and to me personally, you need 2 good players on both flanks, competition and good quality depth is crucial

No we don't have that much to spend under FFP / PSR

We absolutely could do it without breaching PSR. Amortised over 5 years its only £40m per year and that will be offset by the sale of Hjelde for £80m next year and Poveda for £90m in year 3.

I do think the total outlay will be around the £100-120m mark though.

Don’t we have £200m+ to spend

We need to go the forest route with the spending on plenty of quality and depth of quality. They’re the only ones who have managed to stay up
No that figure includes the parachute payments that would be due to us in the years after relegation. I know Kieran Maguire has talked about that figure too, but it was a very general estimate based on some broad assumptions. Best guess is we can afford to make a loss of around £60-70m on next year's accounts without breaching PSR. I'd probably be looking at us committing around £120-140m in fees this summer. It certainly won't be a free-for-all though.

Probably unlikely but I definitely wouldn't rule it out. Certain positions they've been more hit and miss than others when it comes to recruitment (albeit not necessarily out wide). And there is a seed of doubt in my head that comes from the change of structure. Is this a Speakman signing or a Ghisolfi one? Will we be more or less successful with a change in focus?

It's all unknowables as I say. We may never know if signing Lauriente at this point impacts the deals we can make later in the summer. And there's no point in worrying too much until we can see the whole picture. Maybe I'm just being a bit awkward too:emoticon-0102-bigsm. But online lust for transfer activity doesn't necessarily mean that these deals are absolute slam dunks. If I refine my view of why the KLD era has been successful, it is undoubtedly down to talent acquisition to a fair degree. However, I'd argue that the success has primarily been driven by talent development. It's a complex picture. I'm sure it'll work out okay though:emoticon-0103-cool:
I've missed that....has Ghisolfi been confirmed?

Ghisolfi only left Roma next week. Its very plausible he's serving a notice period and won't "join" us until thats up. But I reckon the reality is he's already started work, even if mostly from home in France / Italy.
