Do you know if Gyokeres was a late developer or was it a case of a switch going on / mentality changing?
Being honest I only became aware of him once he was pretty decent. Was too busy concentrating on league one before then! I do have a vague memory of Coventry fans not being too impressed initially. If that was the case then it would suggest that he was a late developer. Certainly Brighton didn’t put up much of a fight to keep him.

Is there a limit to how many loans a PL side can send out ...

... if there isn't there should be.
It is 6 now. Used to be 8 so they have reduced it. That does exclude u21s and what are classed as homegrown players though, so you will see prem clubs with lots out on loan.

Tbf I think we have about 10 or 11 out on loan.

"Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is a big fan of Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and is considering meeting a £25m clause to sign the 26-year-old England international. (Football Insider)"

the keeper that has more relegations on his profile?
go ahead

Mundle is definitely the more rounded player and definitely the better player now. Watson could however develop into an England player, like an Anthony Gordon. He’s able to carry the ball quickly which is a big part of the game today.

Mundle I don’t think has as high a ceiling. But then nothings guaranteed and Watson could struggle and then become a championship level specialist.

Really, £10m is peanuts to an established premier league club so he’s a very good gamble from them.

Mundle ceiling looked very high pre injury. Lets not forget what he was doing week I. Week out he was terrorising everyone we played.

He was incredibly rated at Spurs as well made a mad decision to leave to ‘play now’.

I’d say his ceiling is pretty high like.

Very good keeper though, victim of ‘wanting to play’

I’d rather he didn’t go there as at the fight club he is a proper decent keeper, he’s been player of the season a couple times, and was unlucky with Arsenal as Raya just blew up out of nowhere went from ‘very good’ to ‘superb’ almost overnight.

Every player I seem to look at for potential SAFC signings is either on loan from Brighton, pre agreed to join Brighton or plays for one of their feeder clubs. Incredible recruitment

I do think their recruitment gets overrated to a degree these days, fair few signings don't work out or are sold for almost nothing and find success elsewhere - the level of the successes has made it seem like everything they do is genius but its more throw enough **** at the wall something will stick for me (just well aimed **** if that analogy makes any sort of sense haha).

With Soccer Laduma having previously reported that a Championship side is in England is interested in Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa, the insiders have now revealed the name of the team.

Siya sources close to Pirates and the player have indicated thatformer Premier League side Sunderland are the team believed to be interested in Mabasa. The sources added that at the moment the interest is still in the early stages and they would not divulge more information on the whole situation.

"It's the same club interested in another Pirates player, Thalente Mbatha. It's believed that when the scouts came to look at Mbatha they were also happy with Mabasa and they had to assess him further in other games and apparently they were happy and they have enquired about him. So, Sunderland are the club interested inTshegofatso Mabasa," the insider told the Siya crew.

A second source stated that the only drawback in the whole situation for Mabasa would be his lack of Bafana Bafana national team caps in recent times, which becomes a requirement for a work permit in the United Kingdom.

"The interest is there. There has been an enquiry but the lack of national team caps could work against him. You know in the UK you should play a certain number of national team games for you to qualify for their work permit and other things. It's apparently true the interest is there from Sunderland but will he qualify for that? That's where the problem could be," the second insider revealed.

My money is that comes to the PL and flops. We saw him for a few seasons here; he was very good at this level but he was nowhere near the world class player people make him out to be. He’s gone from a 1 in 3 striker in the championship to scoring more goals than he plays games for a dominant team in a shocking division. If and when he comes to the PL he won’t be playing against L1 standard defenders 9 times out of 10.

It all boils down to how much someone is willing to spend. £40m doesn’t get you much these days so I’d say that’s a decent deal for him but talk of £80m is mental. Irregardless of the standard he’s playing at he’s scoring for fun so his confidence will be through the roof which is important for a striker but if he goes to someone like a Man Utd he’s going to go from having 5-6 clear cut chances a game to 1 or 2 at a push.

Portuguese mate is a big sporting fan and worships Gyokores but the reality is that he’s playing in a piss poor league going into his prime. It’s L1 standard for the most part. If you look into his extraordinary goal figures they aren’t all it seems. Yes, he scored a very flukey hat trick against City but he’s been fairly average in the CL other than that. They always post his goal contributions for the year and it’s brilliant on paper but in reality he has 14 goal contributions in 5 nations league games against absolute dross. 7 of those in 2 games against Azerbaijan. Another 5 against Estonia in 2 games iirc. 7 in 2 games against Estrela in the league. Of course you still need to score the goals no matter who the opposition but he’s stat padding against ****e most of the time.

Tbf Delap looked bang average at Hull and look what he's doing for a struggling Ipswich. When a CF does well int he champ they usually make the step up

Good point

I never really rated Delap at this level but he’s been superb in the PL and will get a big move in the summer

Absolutely - Delap surprised me big style.. but Gyokores is nearly 5 years older than Delap. At Delaps age he was on loan at Swansea where I don’t think he managed a single goal in the champ and looked out of his depth so they sent him back and he went on loan to Coventry for the remainder of the season. He’s obviously improved a lot since then but he’s heading into his best years playing in Portugal against ****e every week then the occasional Porto/Benfica match. Worth noting Porto are also shocking at the minute, half of their squad would probably struggle to get a game for us. Huge step up, whereas Delap is 5 years younger and already playing against better defenders.

Do you watch the Overlap mate? They do that fan debate episode occasionally where they’ll have the same reps from each club on there.. wifey from Ipswich was saying Delap hasn’t been that good this season he apparently misses loads of chances :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Haven’t watched much of them tbh but I was under the impression he’s been pretty decent for a ****e team. Always put the graft in and seemed to create chances when i have watched them
