If Patto goes could Moore step up and have Young as backup until he is ready - not really seen much of Moore tbh

If Moore is our first choice next season we should probably write off promotion as an option, unless the rest of the team was improved a lot.

What has he done wrong?
He is 34 mate. Only 3 seasons as a number 1 choice in that time, and 2 of those at league 1 level. At 3 different clubs. It isnt about what he has done wrong, more about him not having the skillset to be a solid number 1 choice for a club. Keepers such an important position. Sheff Utd and Burnley have elite keepers.

Based on what exactly....is there another club who has fans writing off players with little or nothing to justify such statements. Didn't see Moore let anyone down when called upon this season.

I suppose it's different keeping well for 3 or 4 games compared to doing it for a whole season.

Moore isn't a first team keeper. He's not done anything wrong but its a small sample size. And there's a reason why he's back up keeper pretty much everywhere he goes at this level.

Moore is a good backup. I trust him for cup games and the odd league game when needed and is a great dressing room presence by all accounts. I was happy when we signed him for them reasons. However, I do not want to see him as the 46 game starter.

If Patterson is moved on I would like to see him replaced and Young sent out on loan again. Sam Tickle at Wigan, Josh Keeley who is on loan at Leyton Orient from Spurs, if Stoke go down then Johansson is an obvious pickup, plenty good options out there.

I agree, plenty of good keepers to be had. Although I am not desperate to see the back of Patterson personally. I wouldnt be at all disappointed if he is number 1 next season.

I wonder if they’ll continue down the route of signing higher level youngsters if we get a massive windfall in the summer. Hopefully just 2-3 leave if we don’t go up, don’t want a massive overhaul

About the goalkeeper if Patterson leaves.

There must be several older goal keepers who nobody really wants to sign, no sell on fee and basically only having one, maybe two, good seasons left.
It seems we need a bridging keeper until this Young lad is ready so why not get some experienced keeper, probably currently a Premier league back up, and get the last year or two out of him and by that time our lad will be ready to take over.
That’s if we don’t get promoted of course.

Defo need a better keeper than Moore if we’re going for promotion. Trafford and Cooper been by far and away the best 2 in the league this season and they’ve won their respective clubs any amounts of points.

I think its a season too early for Rigg to make such a move but he only has a short contract and if they offer good money, which I think they will, its probably going to happen.

I think the amount he'll go for is around £30m. I know some have said it will be less because he's had a bad second half of this season, but those clubs aren't buying him on form, they're buying his potential.

And the more clubs willing to pay £30m the better, as somebody will have to go higher to get him.

Potential ability is the most sought after thing in football. It's no surprise that so many top clubs are being linked with him.

The reality is that £30m is a good deal for someone and it's a good deal for us.

Without being disrespectful to Rigg, his sale would have less immediate impact on us that losing Neil or Jobe. I'd reluctantly accept him leaving, even more so if that enabled us to keep someone like Neil.

Probably this. I've seen enough of Patto to know that I want to make Matty Young's development the number 1 priority in the Goalkeeper position.

So with that being the end goal, if Young needs another season on loan before he's ready, then I'm happy to keep going with Patto (if we're in the Championship).

The club so far have managed outgoings very well and have only sold 1 or 2 higher profile players in any window and I don't expect that to change too much unless the players are pushing for moves. As KS has stated regularly they will always try and do what is best for both parties, player and club

If a decent offer comes in I’d happily take the cash and bring a loan keeper in if there’s one available to bridge a season until Young is ready. Frees up funds now as I don’t see his value going up and questions around his lifestyle mean he may not be the example you want for younger players.

Agreed. When I look at the squad, the obvious candidates to be picked up by PL teams are Jobe, Watson and Rigg.

After that, I think Dan Neil will want to get promoted with us, so will give it at least another season.
Ballard, Alese, Cirkin are too injury prone for clubs to pay big money
Mundle & Mayenda still developing

Not convinced many PL clubs are looking at Hume with any serious intent, not sure he has the pace to play RB in the PL
Patto - I've said my piece on him

After that, not seeing many other assets that PL clubs will be after.
