It started earlier than that, in my opinion, mate. Just think back to the late 80s and early 90s with Serie A, the money in Italian football then meant they could buy most players they wanted and even a relative failure could be set for life after a couple of years there, relative to today. The "three foreigners" rule that was in place at the time probably reduced the damage, but just think the AC Milan has Gullett, Van Basten and Rijkaard as their backbone. Inter had Klinsmann, Bremhe and Matthaus, Lazio had Karl Heinze Riedle and Ruben Sosa, Roma had Voller and Thomas Berthold. It just forced other teams in other leagues to spend more, if the could afford it, as Italy was comfortably the strongest and wealthiest league in the world from the late 80s to mid 90s. Other leagues just copied and took it further, especially the EPL.
They’ll con their way out of a sanction again, sell their women’s team or something.

Most opposition clubs know the owners for what they are, it's all sports washing and trying to buy titles and publicity for their wider agenda. Not to mention their fans constantly shouting about how they are the richest club (clerb?) in the world and how PSR isn't fair.
I do believe there is a "Saudi Tax" when it comes to them but it's not surprising at all. What is surprising is that their fans find it surprising, the relatively normal ones anyway.

I wouldn’t mind a taller striker with some aerial abilityTbh I’m relatively skeptical about the coding too. You can definitely get a leg up with it, but it writes some ****ing awful code too. And the idea that we’ll let it generate both code and tests is incredibly dangerous in my view. Again it takes us to the point that if we decide to let vibecoding be the only way forward, we then deny ourselves the benefit of people who actually understand good and bad code who can check that we’re not just being served up nonsense. I do concede that it’s probably easier for it to demonstrate competence in a controlled environment, but it’s still basically just serving up the average quality of your code base.
