Scout is 100% right in his observation. The spine of the team needs to be at the top of the game.. This new lad seems to be a top all round keeper from all of the p.o.v. being put forward..I'm sure @Scout mentioned sometime that the spine of the team needs quality... If this keeper steps up to his reputation then next stop and commanding physical centre back.
Seems harsh on Patto, but we cannot play in this league with sentiment. some of our players who got us there, just might be loaned out or sold... we have to strengthen with quality players who can compete at this level
Nothing against Patto but I've maintained all this season and last, he is a very good Shot Stopper but not a good all round keeper. Over this past season I've watched him closely in particular, his strengths and also his weakness's. Wembley as in other games over the last ten months, showed both sides of his game. Two magnificent stops but also taking too long clearing balls that should never have been necessary when a oppo player was closing down, Had his reading and quickness of thought to realise danger were there. He does the hard things easy but what should be the easy option, he makes difficult Kicking out being a prime example. A Top forward would have been onto him much, much quicker something he will not get away with in the EPL. Tyrese Campbell showed this in the first ten minutes of the first half and I think it was Brewster in the second half. On the plus side for Patto is time. A keeper never really matures until in his late 20's early 30's so having him on the bench, if he is happy to do that, all well and good. He may improve in a couple of years because his progress as a keeper has not been apparent these past 18 months for me.
