I'd be surprised if Spurs thought Denis would be quite good enough for the levels they're looking for. He's injury prone and, even when fit, hasn't often produced the form we know he's capable of. Maybe losing Clarke's work-rate pressured him a bit. He got away with it at Wembley, that dithering around in the second half, saved only by Patto's foot, could have been really costly. Not the decisive play he should have produced. I would have thought he needs to agree a contract extension, sort his fitness, have a good pre-season and go into August as our first choice left back.

They’re used to wasting money on players who won’t make their best Xl any better to be fair!

Didn’t Cirkin come here because he wanted away from London?

Can’t see it happening and wouldn’t want to lose him either.
Dennis is one of those players who needs an arm around him. Yes, he has had a few injuries that have restricted his time this year , but all players go through that phase through out their careers ,especially defenders. Dennis will improve given the chance a steering clear of injuries will help him on his way. I for one don't want to lose him. Again , players need to realise that its not always about the money, its about being appreciated and loved.. Nowhere better than us imo.

Nat Phillips signing for West Brom from Liverpool.

Cant believe his career. He turns 29 this year. Mental

Losing Cirkin would create an unnecessary problem. We already need to bring in a left back anyway but needing to bring in 2 on top of what we need across the squad would be difficult. Similar situation with Neil in midfield really.

We've already lost 18.5% of the total minutes played last season with Jobe, Watson and the loanees leaving.

We've got a lot of work to do, hopefully replacing Neil and Cirkin isn't needed.
Good insight that. I am big on continuity personally. It is also 18% of the team morale, ethic and togetherness gone. I was really taken with the role Samed played in the highlights video for example, always there to lighten things up.

interesting we’re still above the other two relegated sides. And look at Everton - that’s pretty shocking

Burnley will shoot back up if they resign Brownhill which is looking unlikely at the moment from what i've seen.

Everton are a case study on how not to run a football club. How they haven't been relegated yet is beyond me.

Everton need to make a big change, id be worried if Everton were near the top they need a good clear out

Tbf we're talking about 2 left backs because every team should have 2 left backs even if the first choice is never injured.
Without starting up on my favourite hobby horse again, I don't love that type of squad design. Defo need a couple of options, but I'd like to see versatility in there too, so that if the second left back option isn't able to get past the first there's still a plausible route into the team elsewhere. Its why Lotus Biscoff appeals to me as a signing. Could be used as a left back if needs be. Add a left sided centre half who could also play fullback (and then factor in Alese, Huggins, O'Nien, Hjelde and Hume) and I think we'd be okay.

Hope so. FWIW his posts on social this summer certainly gave the impression that his intent is to play PL footy with Sunderland next season.

Havnt seen much. That said, havnt been on socials a lot or on here that much TBH. Knew he went off to Indonesia. Had a fair bit to deal with this year, plus his broken wrist didn't heal as well as hope.

Think he has alot of room to continue to grow and develop, has lots of good traits and left backs are hard to come by.

On cirkin

he isn’t dislodging udogie right now but it’s spurs filling their quota and rather than having a kid elevated to fill that berth for a fairly nominal fee they can get someone with some experience in there

additionally he could still improve

it would be a shame to lose him because pre injury last year he was great and I think he still had a big part to play here

I'd be very surprised if Cirkin chose to go back to Spurs. Especially if it was so obviously just because they need to fulfil squad requirements not because they want him as a player. He might get a good contract but surely not massively better than whatever he can negotiate here and he'll have a realistic shot at impressing in the prem.
