I think that is how it's writtenis he definitely free? only signed for Lyon last summer?
I think I might have read it wrong ignore me, they are looking to cash in with a year leftI mean shouldn't read TOO much into that but signing a player a club wants to give away isn't ideal![]()

Olympique Lyonnais could soon see a significant departure in defense. To ease its finances, the club is considering parting ways with Duje Ćaleta-Car, closely followed by Sunderland. Under contract with OL until 2027, Duje Ćaleta-Car (28) may not continue his adventure in the Rhône. According to Croatian media outlet Sportske Novosti, the international defender (33 caps, 1 goal) is of great interest to Sunderland, who have just been promoted to the Premier League.
I think Lyon are in a bit of a financial mess and they have some sort of embargo going on - another club textor is messing abouthttps://live-mercato.com/article/88...-la-premier-league-pour-renflouer-les-caisses

Spot onAll depends who you partner him with. Caleta-Car + one of our existing CBs won't be good enough. He's good in the air and his box defending is pretty solid. Gets spun way too easily and some of his positioning while defending higher up the pitch is poor.
Biggest concern is that apparently his attitude stinks. That's just based on what Southampton fans have said though so could be a load of ****.
We need more than one centre back tbfCaleta Car doesn't seem like the type of high quality defender we need to bring in. He had a pretty mixed time at Lyon - was benched mid season.
Very strong in the air but we need more than that.
I think we will sign another high quality CB, this signing is likely to be to strengthen the depth at CBCaleta Car doesn't seem like the type of high quality defender we need to bring in. He had a pretty mixed time at Lyon - was benched mid season.

I don't think that's the case with us. Speakman will either be above him or at the same level.
Given everything we have seen, any new guy will report to KS. And really, it's hard to argue with that.
I get that, but for me it's always about continuing to evolve and improve as a football club - i think this appointment does that
The vision is KLDs and he's been spot on with it and his key appointments - so I'm trusting that they've made this one for the right reasons
We aren't doing something ground breaking, this is a very common across Europe. Having 2 senior people focusing on the footballing side is so important, can't have a single point of failure. When in the PL everything gets bigger, more staff, bigger squads etc so having someone to take some of that off KS is a good thing

Does anyone else sit and wonder what the **** is going on at the club?
Since KLD came in the club is professional has a plan and is focused on getting where they want. Gone are the days of the club being a joke I the footballing circles! Not a single club have signed one of ours players and skipped off thinking they got a steal! I mean clubs didn't even want our players if offered them on the cheap!
To appoint this fella who seems very highly rated to let the club make the next step up to how things run is another sign of forward planning and KLD refusing to let any of the work so far become stagnant!
Players now want to come here for more than a retirement village on more money than others were offering!
