Scanning through premiership squads for players who were starting 25 games and under (ie not automatic starters), with 1 or 2 years left on their deals (clubs may cash in) and an estimated wage of under £50k (affordable). To see what kind of domestic business we could possibly do. Rather than being heart set on any particular player, I'm trying to understand the market (the domestic one at least) to see what is realistic and what isn't, where small wins can be found to help us reach 17th.

Just made me check as I knew there was a connection between Dawson and Torino. Dawson and Adam Masina played together at Watford.

The trivia was bothering me. Would still rather have Dawson of the two though

That's fair, my personal opinion is that players like that don't actually add anything to us.

We need to break the mould in order to break into the club and signing reserves from relegation candidates won't change anything in our favour.

Apologies - I say don't add anything, but there is experience added. Can get experience and ability though.

Depends, right now the possibilities are endless so as supporters we understandably want the club to go out and find some diamond from abroad who will be worth £50m after half a season. If the window shuts and Luke O'Nien is our starting centre half I imagine more than a few on here will be will blowing a gasket and the thought of having an experienced head like Craig Dawson might not be so bad.

Hmm, I agree partially although don't think we'd let ourselves get close to that situation.

Maybe controversial but i would actually rather lule O'Nien than Craig Dawson, think he's totally done now.

I get your point though about someone experienced that doesn't necessarily have to be dawson.

+1 for rather Luke O'Nien than Craig Dawson.

Experience wasn't even my point with Dawson, go and look for players in premiership squads who are in an affordable realm with a lower wage and you're really struggling, the pickings are slim unless you're looking for reserve team players.

You're right, that's why we need to put premier league experience in a "nice to have" category rather than "must have". Quality and athleticism trump direct PL experience for me.

I mean yeah that's probably why I just wouldn't, I think I see what you were trying to get at now though.

Sure, but as an exercise it makes sense to check the Premier League, rather than a random league where the data is less available and harder to come by, I didn't choose the Premiership because I think it's the only option or because i demand all players must be signed from there, I picked it because it is our domestic league and the one we're playing in next season.

Adam Webster, Brighton have signed another CB so he’s well down the pecking order.

I understand why you picked it, but luckily the club have access to scouting and data that we do not.

Important to remember that this is a football discussion forum and not the recruitment teams personal whatsapp.

Decent shout, has 2 years on his deal and earns 55k (capology) so fell outside of my search scope as i capped it at 50k, he is also much younger than Dawson, how much would Brighton want? £12m you reckon?

I'm really struggling to understand your point mate? It feels like you've suggested a player, had immediate rejection from people and are now upset about it?

Like you say its a discussion forum. You've suggested somebody and people have said no thanks and said why. That's discussion.

Probably 5-8m range (according to my pal down that way), Brighton usually do well by good pros and let them go for very fair fees.
