Fans of other clubs don't watch him, they watch a player they're expecting to be Jude Bellingham. Unless he has a 10/10 performance they'll see it as 6/10.

And that's before you even get to the "our players are better than your players" bias that all supporters have.
but when he smashing them in for fun come august and playing for England they will change their minds

its just because he played for us

This isn't untypical of Coventry comments that keep popping up.

"If Jobe Bellingham is worth 32M then Rudoni is worth 40M +"

They either don't rate Bellingham or believe Rudoni is worth three times what I see him at.

Am I missing something?
I couldn't care what they say tbh

Rudoni is a very talented footballer, as is Jobe - very different players but both will have cracking careers

Supporters often hype up their own players, we've probably all done it with ours

Transfer fees aren't just about what a player is like for now, but it's also about what they could become in the future

This perfectly demonstrates the limitation of highlight videos. highlight videos are going to show him on the ball. They're not going to show him shirking tackles or running around slowly, or not pressing.

Ekwah LOOKS like a brilliant player, has a brilliant build, and on the ball he is very very good. He also has a great name.

On paper he also looks like he was too good for the championship last year so we had to loan him to ligue 1. To an outsider he could be seen as too good for Sunderland. They don't know the context that we didn't want him.

All of that combined can easily make people think he's a world beater purely from highlight videos and wikipedia
Find people very very quick to dismiss ekwah tbh. He was excellent, absolutely brilliant in his first season. Picked up an injury and wasn't great in the second but he had a million managers and everyone was ****. He might not fit into an rlb team but I think the lad has a lot of quality

We had a point though.

Rudoni is worth half a Jobe.

They'll think they have a point. My point is that often fans do over-rate their own players and under-rate others. Archie Gray is absolutely brilliant and his first season at Spurs has proven that. He may well go on to play more games for England than either Jobe or Rigg but there will be nobody here who'd have swapped them, including me (and understandably so)

Would love us to sign Rudoni, quality player who I think could make the transition to the EPL... As for value, its subjective, A player is worth as much as the buying team want to pay... if its not enough, he stays where he is

yep, so many variables in a transfer fee
  • what the buying club is willing to pay
  • how much additional incentives are in the deal (such as sell on fees - for instance we might sell Rigg for £30m + a 50% sell on fee rather than sell him for £50m now)
  • what agents are charging
  • what the selling club values the player at
  • how much money the selling club has available to spend
  • how necessary it is for the selling club to sell (i.e. you don't need to sell if you don't need to bring anyone new in but you might if you need to rebuild your squad)
  • how much sell on there is to a previous club
  • how long the player has on his contract
  • how agitated / disruptive will the player be if offers are turned down

that's just of the top of my head.

And that's before you consider that ALL transfer fees that are made public have been spun by either the buying club or selling club when they've briefed journalists. That's why you get slightly differing reports.

At the end of the day we'll never know the actual fees and just have to trust the club do whats right (which I do)

Rudoni is worth £8m+£2m on his best day. They're just bitter about the playoffs, I remember when they were promoted out of League One before us and they had a good chuckle at us saying things like, "by the time you get up we'll be in the Premiership" and "Jordan Willis is still in League One", funny how things pan out.
They didn't bank on Frankie boy though, did they

He’s had more bad games than good for SAFC. Just not what we need

And we did the same to be fair. When Gray was sold by Leeds we were like "well if he's worth £40m how much is Jobe and Rigg worth?".
We didn’t say more though, just more than was being mooted which was next to nowt for Rigg and around 10m for Jobe. I’d say rudoni is worth 12m, with your typical team bias I’d understand them saying perhaps 18m
