In full agreement with this, and I defended him towards the end of Jan, genuinely thought he’d wait to see what league we’d be in and reevaluate if we were promoted. Leaves a sour taste and not sure what we do with him between now and season end.

He isn't better than Mundle so it's bench or under 21s. We owe him back ****. He can be sitting, doing nish

Agree mate, said it before I don’t like the prem and all it stands for but ultimately I want Sunderland to be the biggest and best they can be if that means the prem and all its bullshit then bring it on
Couldn’t agree more. I miss attending genuine big games.

yeh that’s the window opens. Bob said a couple of weeks ago that we’d agreed with Brighton that Tommy Watson won’t play our final 5 games. Think it’s bollocks myself

Yeah. Think it may have been lost in transition. Lots heard it was done from June onwards, hence the post.

I know mate, but its the biggest and best league in the world and we as a club and fanbase deserve ro be there more than someone like Burnley and Sheff Utd

Gives us enough time hopefully to have replacements lined up division dependant

If Watson is worth the reported 10 million after 14 appearances then what are Rigg and Bellingham? Double and some surely

Its not just based on his appearances. Players like Watson are on other clubs radars from being young kids playing at youth level. 10m will be a fraction of what hes worth in less than 5 years time. This is why teams like Brighton are so successful at competing at the highest level and embarrassing big spending teams like Man Utd and Chelsea

Yeah stings a bit. He'll probably be out on loan in the Championship next season as well.
I dont think so mate. I think he will be in their first team squad. Maybe not a starter, but they will have him in their squad and developing with them. Personally gutted. Not surprised, Brighton have pushed hard for a long time, but I wish we could have seen him develop next season. I think he will be outstanding.

…if he develops and continues to improve, it’s not a guarantee, some players just don’t kick on as expected

We’ll see with Watson. The potential is clearly there though

He should not be picked at all imo, The club have been held to ransom, Rodwell style, 10m is peanuts. sadly we are talking a serious talent here. Mundle is decent yes but Watson is something special .

£10m is a good deal from what I’ve seen so far. Should give us a bit room in the summer for incomings and hopefully can hold off interest in some of our key players.

Obviously a bit younger but looks canny far behind mundle so doubt he’d even be first choice next season either. Obviously wanted to move badly looking back at January now, hed be the first of the young talents we’ve got that I’d choose to move on if I had to pick too.

If we have a canny sell on % I hope he does well, if not, then whatever

I’m not so sure myself, can definitely see a loan deal for next season. Brighton usually nail it with their mix of experience and youth though, interesting to see what they decide for Watson from August onwards

Wasn't staying and wasn't signing a contract. No surprise it's been agreed and confirmed to move at end of season. Would have left in Jan if they had more time.

Not arsed.

You were bang on few months ago after the deadline stuff. Hopefully got what we were asking for

Hes well worth a 10m investment though obviously. Look at Brightons transfer history over the years. Its absolutely amazing and should be a Blue print for any smaller club that wants to become a force.

I dont even blame Watson. My issue is the timing of all this and how desperate he was to get tbis done before June when we still have so much to play for. Zero thought to his team mates, the club and the fans. How can we have a player like him on the front line now?
