I reckon RLB wanted to try the two striker option last night.
Why not, against a 1st division reserve team.
It didn’t work. He corrected it after giving them a half to try it.
Same with other players out of position like Roberts and Rigg.

I like Huggins but he’s been poor so far. He really needs a Championship loan.

Anybody else think we were a bit shot shy last night. Other teams have a go from all around the box and it’s pandemonium in our box trying to clear it. We often seem to try and walk the ball into the goal. We should try getting the ball into the opposition box.
We should also quicken up our play. Compare that last night to the mags on Monday, they were running everywhere but we were lackadaisical with and without possession.

The window has been excellent, just need to make sure we get the final two vital positions nailed down, CB and a winger.

We should hear about the decision on Lucumi today you'd think as they had crunch talks yesterday according to reports

Me too, but I have alot more hope in stopping up than I was expecting.
100%. I'm optimistic that we've improved the squad sufficiently to give us a decent chance of stopping up. That said,I'm acutely aware that every match is going to be a challenge. I think, whether or not we sign another, the defence has been upgraded,as has the midfield. My worry remains strong about whether we can get enough goals. It's no good setting up to try to keep clean sheets in this league....almost all of these teams will have someone to take a half chance, and then you're stuffed. We have to be able to score goals to put the opposition under pressure and give us an opportunity. If we could only sign one more in this window,I'd want a penalty box striker. If Elizer had tucked away that chance on Saturday,we would have had a different result.......those chances don't come along often,we have to be able to take them. Imo,we need 50 goals....I watched the Spanish boy closely last night....I still don't see 50 goals in this team.

Tough one with Guiu last night we barely put any decent balls in until aleksic came on, think he could thrive playing with Adingra and talbi, all ifs and buts right now though

I didn’t have us top 10 like but before a ball was kicked I thought ‘definitely good enough for 17th’.

Now more like I think we on the line of 17th. Still maintain that it’s a few tweaks and a bit of fortune now to rise a bit further.

‘we’ doesn’t have to be ‘we all’, serene lad.

Absolutely can see why plenty still have us going down.

Was always going to be super difficult staying up but we have a better chance than I thought we would given the transfer dealings so far.

done need some more quality additions….absolutely but we are giving ourselves a fighting chance.

id take a point Saturday, be blown away by three

Aye good points to consider mate.

I still think Enzo should play with Xhaka and Diarra. Sadiki is great but he isn’t picking passes he just keeps it simple.

A player like Enzo needs to find rhythm in his proper position, he will find Diarras runs, he can plays behind a striker (if not as a pure 10).

This should have happened v Burnley. Even with more attacking full backs someone needs to be able to play balls in behind for them. Wingers haven’t had balls to run onto, concern is neither would full backs.

My tin hat is definitely on here, but I just want to know people's thoughts so far.

In terms of talent at the moment mate, Le Fee, Xhaka and Diarra should ordinarily be our midfield 3, although I have been impressed by Sidiki. However, I wonder if Xhakas lack of pace is leading to RLB selecting Sidiki on the cover, rather than playing ELF?

I also feel that Xhaka, Le Fee/Diarra and Rigg could be a good match, but again will Xhakas lack of pace mean RLB selects Sidiki ahead of Rigg or Le Fee?

It's a bit of a dilemma. I think that Xhaka does need to show a bit more than he has so far, and I'm sure he will once he gets up to speed. There's certainly no faulting his leadership skills on the pitch, I just wanted to discuss whether anyone else thought he might be hampering us attacking wise.

It's still early into the season. We are near enough a new team put together. There'll be bumps along the way. The windows giving us a good chance to battle in staying up.

Think it’s one to look at in a few weeks.

Xhaka always had a lack of pace but has always managed to heavily influence games. I’m assuming he does that here once all bedded in.

As said before though, there certainly could be games when a combo of the other 3 is a better fit

Agree, also Xhaka was good against West Ham imo and his role is never going to look flashy or make him look better than the other two, who will be more advanced and when they do something well it'll be very noticeable. His role as a sitter is to keep it calm for us and do his job well. He's never going to look unbelievable really imo

All truth. Are we seeing Diarra as untouchable just as he’s record fee.

He looks the part Diarra, but he was poor v Burnley and we haven’t seen any real creativity from him yet.

Like you say, could be that any 2 from them 3 could vary depending on oppo, but Reg tends not to do that currently.

It goes back to remembering we are a new team and still smoothing out kinks, but there is that nagging worry about Régis being relatively stubborn on team selections.

Granit-Enzo-Sadiki has a bit of everything.

want to see more flexibility with the starting 11

At home against sides we should be targeting id arguably like to see a more creative midfield, to try and get the lead then bring the likes of sadiki on to maintain shape and be the hallmark rlb counter attack side

at home against bigger sides it could be the industrious trio that start

etc

Yeah.

That’s one thing we need to see a bit of, just some flexibility on the 11.

We have some really superb footballers here now, how we use them is a massive part.

last night showed that Neale needs to be moved on....the entire midfield were as weak as P*** not a worthy tackle amongst any of them. I know we have Xhaka , Diarra and Sadiki but if anything happens to any one of them when tackles need to be made, we are screwed. The two new lads at the back were the only redeeming feature last night
Thought Jones 2 did ok when replacing Huggins but it highlighted why the promotion winning team simply aren’t good enough and hence why we have had such a massive intake of players . Huggins,Neil, Roberts, offered very little last night and did not help the new players and youngsters much and moving them on won’t be easy , the worth of Neil I would suggest is over stated by a lot of supporters I think if we could get £6-8 m , that money could be put towards further recruitment .Isidor was taken off possibly looking toward Saturday when he was causing countless problems when playing out wide on the left .i realise losing out is disappointing but not not disastrous main focus is staying in the Premier League regroup and go again .
