Honestly, they're taking the piss at this point. I'd be tempted to tell them to get stuffed and enjoy having an unhappy player on their books. Especially with how Ballard and Alderete performed at the weekend. I'm sure our scouting department have other targets in their locker, and if we walk away I wouldn't be surprised if Bologna come back begging for our previous highest offer.

Where have you seen this? everything I've seen said it expires next summer but Bologna wanted to extend it. I've seen nothing saying they had an option of an extra year?

I remember the very first story linking us to Lucumi said we were waiting for his release clause to expire before bidding. That made no sense at all at the time and makes even less sense now. Hopefully was bollocks as otherwise it was pretty obvious tactical blunder.
I know but we could have still bidded whatever we wanted back then, and it would have been against the backdrop of them knowing there was a ceiling and the threat of losing him for less. Now Bologna can be stubborn and say they want 30m. There's no burning platform for them.
