Honestly, they're taking the piss at this point. I'd be tempted to tell them to get stuffed and enjoy having an unhappy player on their books. Especially with how Ballard and Alderete performed at the weekend.

I'm sure our scouting department have other targets in their locker, and if we walk away I wouldn't be surprised if Bologna come back begging for our previous highest offer.

Cash I expect, and drawing last night won't have helped.
Not that they don't generate money mind, but they certainly don't spray it out wildly.
I watched most of last night and they looked short to me as well

Thirty million euros for a player we can sign a contract with in a little over 4 months for nothing.

Defo says it on transfermarkt now. Seems there’s a few articles online too. Can’t do much for their ongoing relationship that they’ve forced that through, though.
 
I remember the very first story linking us to Lucumi said we were waiting for his release clause to expire before bidding. That made no sense at all at the time and makes even less sense now. Hopefully was bollocks as otherwise it was pretty obvious tactical blunder.

It'll be because we want to restructure the payments, rather than paying it all upfront

Sounded made up and nonsense then and I’m fairly confident it was.

I know but we could have still bidded whatever we wanted back then, and it would have been against the backdrop of them knowing there was a ceiling and the threat of losing him for less.

Now Bologna can be stubborn and say they want 30m. There's no burning platform for them.
