yep. He’s got to do what’s right for him tho. Same for Tommy Watson. And likewise the club has to do what’s right for us.

As much as I’d love to see Dan Neil walking out as captain vs West Ham, I’m afraid I’m much more confident seeing Granit Xhaka do so.

Still my preferred outcome is he signs his deal and fights for his place. He’ll get plenty of minutes and probably more than he’d get at any other premier club.

If I had a choice mind I want Neil walking out as captain after signing a new contract. It gives the right signals to every kid on our books. Xhaka will always be a leader whether he has an armbands or not.

I’d agree if there was a formation we’d see them both starting. But they both play the same role in our system. And I want the better player there.

From what I’ve heard/read, Xhaka is best as an 8 alongside someone who sits and protects the back four. Xhaka might therefore actually suit playing alongside Neil or Sadiki.

Not sure who would sit in a midfield three of Enzo, Xhaka and Diarra. Even though they could all play the sitting role if needed. Hoping we see that trio together in the next friendly.

Sadiki has been a standout performer in pre-season but would be good to see different combinations. Would love to see Enzo as the deepest alongside Xhaka, as I think we would be able to keep the ball really well. Something we struggled with last year.

Xhaka will be the sitter like he was against Betis. He suits it so well

So,Guiu is in,which I'm really happy about...I think he will be an old style centre forward,in the box player, quality service in to him will be required.
What's the concensus on where that leaves us now? For me,a strong, pacy centre back, good with the ball, would round out an excellent window in terms of the squad, particularly if we can agree contracts with Neil,Cirkin,....and I think,Roberts and Huggins....all of whom I hope will stay.
If we can get a CB confirmed,I expect the rest of the window to focus on helping about 10 or so players to leave.
