Without sounding like Fosse because I know he's no world beater, but matt Targett was absolutely amazing for us last season.. Not great going fwd but solid as a rock
He's okay but good players can get at him and he's loses concentration sometimes and lacks fitness imo. Not many good left backs in the PL though.

Winning the FA cup is great mate, but I’m not sure it can really be a used as a measure of progression. If you won it 2 or 3 times, I’d be more inclined to agree with you.
I see Leicester as a team who massively over achieved and enjoyed a remarkable season. To say that you’ve progressed since then, is a bit mental tbh. You are probably a mid-table side, but under investment in the playing squad could cost you dearly now that more and more teams are throwing money around.

Mate ... if you look at our history in the top flight over my lifetime of support (50 years plus), you'd realise the journey since we came up in 2014 is beyond sustained progress ... it's fantasy football ... and long may it continue <cheers>

That just means the club progressed from where is was which isn't the same as you saying you're still progressing as always.

You've gone backwards for years so your use of language was wrong.. That's fine, but anyone else would've just said yeah and rephrased it.

<laugh> Last but one FA Cup winners ... only 3 top tier English trophies (4 If you count the Community Shield) and we've won them all in the last 25 years, with the latest only just over 12 months ago (less than 12 months if you count the Community Shield) ...

... if you want a real example of "backward for years" try a club that needs to look back to black and white telly for it's last equivalent success ... shouldn't take you long ... <laugh>

******ed English more like ... so you are only measuring success on League position? ... a club can't progress in any other way ... therefore if you finish under a previous season position you are regressing? KDEN <doh>

Fair enough ... that's your definition ...

Here's mine ... over the last decade we are in the Top 4 of English clubs in terms of success on the pitch ... off it we have built arguably the best training facilities currently anywhere in the world (certainly in the UK) ... later this year we will begin an ambitious ground expansion and re-development of the area around the stadium including a hotel, conference centre and various retail and leisure outlets...

Now all of that is real progress for a football club IMHO ... and the last aspect is only just about to start ... you are welcome -

Difference of opinions but that's mine, I'm sticking to it and, as such, won't be debating it further... other than that, have a lively day <cheers>

Newcastle are going to spend their way back into the big time though. Crass it might be, but for teams like Lesta who hover around mid table and push for a Europey spot it’s going to push you further down the pecking order.

Lesta have done okay in the last decade, but I don’t see you replicating that success again, certainly not in your lifetime anyway.
