Aye it was just all the links to him. It seemed possible. I've watched a fair bit of Barca of late and he is one of the big reasons for their turnaround. With that has come Xavi relying on him though so I reckon they will sort out a contract. Not too worried, I think we will be delighted come the summer. This lad is just a bit next level, which did make me wonder whether we could really pull that type in with no European football to offer. 3-5 Bruno type level players and we are laughing.

Barcelona are in serious trouble financially so it's still possible

Aside from wages I mean.

Think Trev means the crazy signing on fee Mbappe's agents want. He might be 'free' in terms of contract with Barca, but it would would still cost a small fortune to sign him due to massive signing on fees. Greedy agents still want their palms crossed despite the 'free transfer' tag.

Agreed, sell Captain Fistipumps and get a new man in,won't happen though.

For the first time since SBR, we can completely trust in the manager because he's proven himself to be somewhat superhuman and has the backing of our ultimate saviours, the owners. So if Eddie says Fistbumps has value, I believe him. The days of resigning ourselves to having to keep cheap, crap options because we have no ambition to get any better are gone. If Fistbumps is an asset on the training ground, if he can do the odd job on the pitch, if he's happy being a bit part player in the new Newcastle United, then we should be fine with that.

Even with the contract, I doubt Schar will be starting CB next season. But if we bring in a Gleison Bremer and Schar can step in for the League Cup, it's no bad thing!
