Getting rid of ASM would be strange thing to do at this stage. I though the Diaby/Harrison links were about finding a RW, but both are predominantly LW's so who knows.

What I do know is we're two weeks away from starting the season with the same attack we had under Ashley and one new outfield player.

Maxi is under appreciated and now we have some solid defenders and a tactically sound manager I think he could blossom with a bit more license getting forwards.

In his three years he's
Played 86 (EPL games)
Scored 11
Assisted 13
Goal contribution every 3.5 games

Majority of which has been under Bruce so I expect him to improve on those number this year. Made 10 goal contributions in 35 games last year - he needs to be hitting 15-20 really but he did say himself - give him a striker who can finish and see what he can do. Wilson is a great foil for him but only fit 50% of the time so we need someone there to pick up the slack when he's out of the team.

Personally I wouldn't sell him - he is the kind of player who we should be looking to keep long term even if we bring in better players he's a better back up than Murphy and Almiron...
You’ve been warned once already.

<grr>

Downie reckons we're going to try and ship out 3-5.

Surplus to requirements as I see it; Darlow/Gillespie, Fede, Manquillo, Ritchie, Murphy, Mongstaff.

Wow. That’s all folks.

I know some people don’t like stats. But that just shows you how little Miggy creates.

Jesus. One assist?! That's really awful. He's not even involved in passages of play that lead to goals, either. Compare that to ASM who is directly involved a fair bit, but also indirectly contributed a shedload.

I am actually gobsmacked on that stat given that is one of his main roles to provide assists.

He really isn’t a good player is he.

I actually think there may be something in the Chelsea maxi rumours.

I would hate to see him leave us and then destroy the league for Chelsea. But it’s possible.
He doesn't strike me as an intelligent player, ie one that can see a pass. Maybe next season he will have grasped it though - especially if we have an in-the-box player to pass it to.

He did proper throw Wood under a bus with his I would get more assists with a better striker.

Maybe that’s miggys issue too.

not the richest club not by a long way.. Richest owners
Is this what we have to do to get around the PL new rules which stint our commercial growth.

Are they binding us with rules that don’t apply to other clubs.

To get the takeover through did we have to agree to some shady **** with the PL?

I am super surprised the commercial deals have not been rolling in pre season in anticipation for the new season.

Something smells off.

This seriously concerns me about the money we may have to spend.

The richest club on the planet paying in instalments for a 10m player.

Does that sound like the richest club on the planet to you @Roland Deschain

This is just standard practice that other clubs have been doing for years.
The article should really have been entitled Newcastle United finally arrive in the 21st century.
Clubs are always in hock to each other, but, it makes the money world go round.
Keeps the likes of Everton well within FFP as it will us.

Usual stuff this, fans not really understanding something and panicking about it. This is absolutely standard practice, it's the only way Liverpool operates, they only do installments. It helps richer clubs stay within FFP and allows the poorer club a steady stream of income over a couple years.

City paid £51M upfront for Haaland, but the deal is going to be over £80M. That's Man City.

I am not so sure mate. I like the deal. But it makes me nervous.

The club is bound by some shady **** by the PL I am convinced by that. Our commercial deals are not coming through.

The finances are not there for FFP.

I guess the new guys that have come in are there to smash that side of the equation and until then we have to wheel and deal.

Ok. I can accept that.

Conversation with himself this.

I'm allowed to poke at him whenever I want because the pansy has me on ignore.

Seriously, this is normal, Ashley was a one off for years paying upfront, but, even that stopped eventually. That article is just scaremongering ****e.
