There were early rumours of a big bid being readied from a PIF owned club for Almiron. Something around £80m. Now it's all about Saint Maximin going to one of them for a rumoured £50m.
I think as well that they are waiting until enough time has passed and lots of transfers have been made to SA before concluding ours so as not to look suspicious

The only club the media mention FFP when signing players is newcastle.... the only clubs mentioned are when it's breached and charges being brought.

Essentially the media are desperate to go after Newcastle when they cross a line.

You say this negatively yet to me this is a positive. Means clubs think/know we can’t over spend soo we don’t get fleeced

I think Newcastle are actually on the limit I mean they must be. They've spent about 300 million in 18 months.

The fans want to believe otherwise, so they use mental gymnastics to find an excuse to believe a theory they prefer.

Given the new commercial deals, I'm sure there is a bit more headroom than reported previously, but I'd agree that the position is not what some fans would believe.

I think the biggest issue is wages vs revenue - I'm sure I saw something back end of last season which said we were running at over 90% wages/revenue. Got to get some deadwood off the books

This.

We have a number of players who clearly are not part of the plan and so need offloading. They might not fetch that much in transfer fees, but as you say we need them off the wage bill. Quickly.

I honestly think if the club feels this is good enough, they’re in for a ****ing surprise. Midfield wasn’t the weakest link; unreliable players, and a leaky defence in the second half, was problematic. Gordon is just about an upgrade on ASM, right wing is only getting worse, Schar and Burn shouldn’t be starting in the PL let alone the CL. Then you look past the first XI and it’s pretty bad. Ritchie was getting on the pitch last season for christs sake!!
