The thing is, most of these comments from other fans are part if the reactionary 'denial' stage.

They are nowhere near 'frustration' yet. That will happen when we consistently succeed.

Then the full depths of 'depression' will kick in when they finally realise this is for real.

Is anyone else thinking this transfer window might actually be more exciting than the actual football season?

It’s mad, the lad they just signed from Brighton ain’t world class. “He won a World Cup” means sod all, I mean Romero and Otamendi won it man.

Good player tho, wouldn’t get into world 11.

Totally agree.

Not sure why everyone getting so defensive. Just saying that labelling those 4 players as world class is a bit much. If they were they wouldnt be playing for the respective clubs. But they are good young players that you should be targeting (maybe minus chiesa). Like any signing, could go one of two ways.

Players coming from Italy have often struggled moving to the prem.. but then have hit the ground running (Salah for example). Any transfer is a risk obviously but seems like the diff in pace between Italy and England have caught a lot of players out (aqualani is one that I remember just cos played for us, Jorginho struggled initially, crespo & sheva although we’re older when moved to Chelsea).

Will be interesting see if he lives up to the hype about him

Can't disagree with any of that but Howe has been pretty excellent at bringing in new players gradually no matter what the expectations. Bruno had to sit on the sidelines for a month watching Shelvey and Longstaff dig us out of the relegation zone before Howe thought he was up to speed and even then it was only bit part roles. Same was done with Isak and Gordon. Most of the players you mentioned were replacing others and there was pressure on them to perform from day one, whoever we buy I just don't think Howe will be expecting them to play until they're up to speed - certainly not full games.

Would also add that the one player mentioned who i think is the surest best of world class is Szoboszlai. Picked for hungary at 16, scored the goal to qualify them for the Euros a couple of years later and then his own international team mates voted him to be the national team captain at the age of 21. He's not just a baller, he's a leader. People still under-estimate Hungary even though they have been very good for a few years now, they beat England 3-0 at Wembley a year ago to do the double over us and still there's an element of "it's only Hungary".
