Would love this one to happen....

LINCOLN City winger Anthony Scully could leave the club before the end of the transfer window as Sunderland are linked with a move.

The 23-year-old, who currently has one year left on his deal with the Imps, has been the subject of interest from a number of clubs at League One and Championship level.

Scully has made 113 appearances for the club and scored 36 goals since breaking through the academy. He’s already scored twice in the Imps opening five games of the season. “We want to hold onto our players. Anthony has had a great start to the season” manager Mark Kennedy told BBC Radio Lincolnshire Sport.

can't see us beating Watford to a signing like Lowe.

They will have cash to burn considering parachute payments and in the process of selling three strikers each for more or less the total value of our club. mental gap.

not to mention the lad grew up about 15 miles from Watford.

He would be a tremendous signing. He was excellent whenever I saw Lincoln play and I see him as a great fit with our style of play. He is aggressive when pressing, creates overloads when going forward and is a real threat on the ball. He is more than capable of stepping up to this level in my opinion, and would thrive.

If we’re going to stick to 3 at the back I’m assuming Scully would be coming in as RWB?
I have always seen him as a wide attacker, but who can go through the middle as well. Dont know if he has played wing back, but he is a grafter so maybe he could.

I still hope we play 433, or 4231 a fair bit this season. He would be great on the right hand side in that formation for me.

Formations / tactics are so much more fluid than traditional formations can depict.

Scully could very easily fit into the position of one of the two strikers, or one of the two wing backs, in the current "shape". However his remit would be entirely different to Gooch, Clarke, Stewart or Simms.

This is true, but by adding yet another wide attacking player, albeit one who may have the potential to operate as a wing back, the overall make up of the squad lends itself more towards a formation in which there are two wide players whose primary role is an attacking one (of course wingers will always have a supplementary defensive role in any formation).

He’s a winger but he’s very attack minded from what I can remember him playing against us. Roberts already can’t get a game on the right though so curious as to what our plans would be for scully

Do you think Scully could play in the front 2?

Cirkin deal. Rumoured 6m buy back which expires June 2024. Any idea how this works. Could spurs bid the 6 mil and the player turns it down? Or would a contract already be in agreement? Can't imagine a contract being in place but curious. On current form, spurs would be wise to take him back in a year or 2 time and flog him for more should he continue to improve

been quite a few 'buy back' options but for the life of me i cannot think of any that were taken up, or has there been any?

i would guess that there will be a few intricate details in the contract, also a guess, can the original club 'insist' on buying back or does the player/club have to be open to the transfer as well...i mean let's say we bought a promising youngster from man city with a 10M buy back clause, if he turns out to be amazing and man city are still sitting proudly at the top of the premier league and doing well in euro competitions, the player would be mad not to move (as things stand of course) but, what if man city had a terrible run of luck ala Leeds and ended up in div 3 while we were promoted into the premier league the player would certainly choose us so this is why i would presume the player has to be open to a move.

that said, if the club are still floating around the championship i figure we would be fully behind a deal to bring 10M into the coffers...'tis a strange situation and makes me want to return to the old 'players is worth 500k, heres the money tell him to sign here after the medical clears him... done deal' type of scenario.
