I mean this is great but how many Twitter accounts are we going to get that are “freelance journalists” just reporting what they’ve seen elsewhere and hoping for credit

telltale sign is that they’re “freelance” but tweeting news to their audience personally, rather than selling that news for payment from an employer .

which essentially proves they’re not doing it for money, they’re doing it for weird social fame.

I know it’s quite an obvious/empty statement but if we target a centre mid of the same sort of calibre as him as well as bringing in a couple of extra faces in the areas we’re lacking then we’ll be right in the play off mix.
If we are building like last season then all the players we bring in should have the potential to play premiership football. It’s not about getting out of the division, it’s building a squad that can survive in the league above. Likes of Gayle who are/were excellent in championship but didn’t cut it in Prem shouldn’t be on our radar. Ballard fits the profile, Cirkin and Clarke too, Simms and Van Hecke have the potential if they weren’t loans. The loans with same profile means everyone is hungry and trying to improve. I love the way we are going about our business.

Totally agree marra, it's great to follow the lads at the moment, long may it continue.

Could try a similar deal to cirkin. What was it, something like spurs can buy him bk in 3 years for 6m. Could be a good deal all around that one

Cirkin wasn’t bought for much though and had no football league experience. Van Hecke was Blackburn’s player of the season last year and would likely cost £12-15m so I can’t see them giving us him for dirt cheap with a buy back clause.

I honestly think Cirkin would knock them back. He left for first team football and you can see he just loves being here and is enjoying himself.

I agree, he calls us ‘his club now’

I couldn't tell you the feeling” he admitted in the early stages of the conclusion of their League One play-off final win over Wycombe Wanderers. “Even in the first place making the move, to me Sunderland is my club now. Playing 100% in every match, this is what we wanted.Yeah, we got where we wanted to be.25 May 2022

Sunderland is 'my club': Dennis Cirkin's 'unreal' first season at senior level

Interesting the Blackburn fans are saying he was disappointing playing in a back 4 but always excelled in a back 5.

Genuinely think we should go to Everton now and just pay for Simms. He’s gonna cost a few quid but it’s gonna rise.

I’ve seen enough to say he could have a big future here if it’s plausible let’s see the owners teeth.
I just hope with Simms, and a few of the other young lads that people are waxing lyrical about, that we remember how positive we are about him and stay supportive when he inevitably, as a young lad, goes through a bad run of form at some point in the season.

If Everton even considered an offer for him it would show they are a basket case of a club!

Simms looks 100% to be good enough for a shot at being in and around a lower half Premier league first team after another season of football! Everton though might be Championship themselves so he could be their first choice next season.

To consider a offer would show they ha e no plan for the immediate future and are one of those clubs that prefers to buy a player than try what they have in the kids!

Yes. But you can't buy something if it isn't for sake, and I think Everton want to give Simms a try if he does well here.

And they might have to. Their new ground is going up and it might force them to be more sensible in the market rather than hoying daft cash at any available player. That has got them where they are now

Don’t quote me on this but I’m sure they were playing with a back 4 until Van Hecke came into the team and they got walloped 7-0 off Fulham in his first game or definitely one of his first games. Once he was back from suspension they played with a 5 at the back and went on a good run mid season then went back to a 4 at the back and had a poor end to the season. I’m busy at the minute, I’ll have a look later to verify but I’m 99% sure I’m right.

I personally don’t like us playing with 3 centre backs in a 5 (although I am coming round to it more every game) because Cirkin is a quality left back and he’s having to fill in at LCB whilst Clarke drops back to LWB. Neil/Embleton end up in the middle, O’nein is covering RCB. Feels like too many players are out of position to accommodate the second striker, but it’s hard to drop Simms when he’s playing so well. We seen at QPR when he took him off the game totally changed, he left him on yesterday and we could’ve scored 2/3 more second half.

I think when we have a full squad fit both formations are viable though and that’s a great thing to be able to switch.
