Right back wasn’t it? McNamara I think
He would be a good signing, liked the look of him when he was on loan at St Johnstone.

I'd love Billy Mitchell but be surprised if they'd sell him.

I know Bradshaw was linked but I can't see it being him

Can’t pretend to know anything about McNamara but he fits the profile from my Wikipedia scouting :D, but he played a lot for them last season and the opening two games. So you have to imagine it would take a decent fee even if he is out of contract next year

Expected it to go into the window but the deal to be worked out due to the willingness on both sides. Plus the contract situation helped us. Now with Everton looking to protect and offer and loan, made no sense for us.
Any idea if the medical happened today?

Fair play to those saying Simms is better. Hope you are right. I have seen much more of Broadhead so can only judge on what I have seen. Simms had a good game so fingers crossed. Broadhead is a different player though, and I reckon some teams will cope with 2 similar strikers quite comfortably. We neee a different type.

honestly don't think people are pleased (i know you never said they were, by the way) about broadhead, given the choice i think we would all prefer to see him here, we have seen plenty from the lad to know he can do the business and as in the old saying 'better the devil you know'...but it has dragged on for too long now and we will never know why it never came off, we wanted him and he wanted to be here by all accounts, unfortunately i think if it was going to happen it would have happened during pre-season and the club cannot afford to keep chasing a target if obstacles are being put in place or if we are not willing to meet valuations/expected game time/cost of wages/or whatever.

the positive side of all this is that simms hit the ground running and showed what he is going to bring, he certainly managed to sway a fair few fears.

Would have been happy to have him but we move on These things happen and if it was down to game time at least the club are not been held to ransom.

I believe deep down he fancied coming back but he has moved to a club around the corner

Ironically no top championship clubs seemed to be interested

I’d absolutely love Broadhead here but not instead of Simms. And that’s not just going off this one game. That’s going off how he performed at Blackpool when he wasn’t even prolific, and then how he developed in Scotland.

I love Broadhead and will forever be grateful for him being part of that team last season. But I’d rather we had Simms.

It’s the perfect move for him. It’s really hard to get annoyed by it. We like to pretend Wigan fans make a rivalry with us but we definitely do it with them as well.

They’re a good side with a good manager, based near his family and probably telling him he’s going to play regularly at the highest level he’s ever played at in his career, which is mental at his age. Not sure how anybody can blame him for that.

From reading on here we made an offer to Broadhead and gave him a deadline. Once that passed we moved on to Simms and I'm happy we did after reading the report from Saturday game. If there are any more signings to be made, I'll leave that in the capable hands of our recruitment team and AN.
Hhhaaawwwwaaaaayyyyyyy the lads
I don't think a loan does anyone any favours. I'd have taken him on a permanent, but no point loaning him as he'd have to fight for playing time. I trust Neil and Speakmann

Yeah loan wasn’t really an option
