Agreed. Davison for being a MLF and having spend years in senior positions, needs to get his head out of his arse.

I’ve worked in construction in London for most of the last 25 years and know some of the senior lads in Atkins and he has an excellent reputation and they were surprised and disappointed to lose him to us.

I was expecting great things from him particularly as he is a MLF but from the outside looking in and what I read about him.he’s been very poor.
I can’t fathom how an experienced CEO/COO hasn’t been able to quickly identify and remedy the fact that we are making it difficult for a huge and engaged fan base to buy match tickets and merchandise.
He needs to get himself sorted and do it quickly as his position should really be under serious review.

There were a few of us on here who couldnt see any way Defoe could contribute on the pitch at all mate. He had barely played in 18 months and it seemed impossible to me he would be anywhere near fit enough. It was a mind boggling signing in my opinion, and I would bet the coaches at the time wanted someone else. I am just relieved it didnt cost us in the end, and hopefully some lessons have been learned. It was a 2 or 3 week period when it felt like we had lost a lot of focus with the whole Defoe and Keane things - it was a really bizarre time, IMO at least.
It was really bizarre. Totally out of character

Too early for me. He nearly screwed it all up last year. I know we went up but that was down to Neil and not speakman. I don't want to derail the thread but he got very fortunate. The Defoe carry on, manager lag, leaving it an age to give LJ the bullet, the Keane mess, Ken Dodd and Proc issue, leaving us with 1 fit striker.

Thanks to Neil that all was swept under the carpet.
It certainly glossed over Speakmans failings over the christmas and new year periods ..Alex Neil saw us promoted, not Speakman.

Defoe was a perfect example of players should never be signed by their old clubs, like Borini, Bale and Ronaldo etc. A shame Defoe was re-signed , but it shouldn’t take away what he did during his first spell.

Highlight of his career being mentioned in same breath as those two <laugh>.

Bale lost the hunger due to seemingly being out of love with football (apart from when representing Wales), Defoe it seems that his body wasn't up to it anymore (not that he admits it hasn't he been interviewed recently saying he feels sharp and up to it <doh>) and Ronaldo is less about Ronaldo and more about Utd he still scored 18 in 30. I would say in Ronaldo's case it is more he should have went elsewhere and not been so loyal to Fergie, should have dome a season or two in Germany imo.

Absolute top ****housery from Bale here.....(not transfer related but quite funny considering he wouldn't speak Spanish when he was Madrid) <laugh>

It is mind boggling mate. It isnt just Chelsea, it is the premier league, and in particular the usual 6 or 7.

The premier league, as an organisation, have both done a brilliant job, but are also an insular, small minded, organisation that will implode. They have done a great job in over marketing and over exposing their product. The self publicising is a thing to behold, and they have convinced half the football watching world it is the best league on the planet, when in reality it isnt even in the top 3. They just keep spending more money on marketing to keep people believing, even though you can watch a game and it be very poor fare.

Their latest ruse, which has me spitting feathers, is to offer a better amount of money to us championship clubs, if we commit to a certain number of u23s in a matchday squad. The idea being it is their u23s, on loan, because they have finally come to the realisation that u23s football is rubbish, oh and sending their u23s to europe is now harder. Here is an idea, and back to your original point mate, prem clubs should play their own u23s, instead of spending £60m on a left back when they already have 2 internationals in that position. Why should the championship become a nursery for the most hideously self centred league? That league can whither away as far as I am concermed. It just gets worse as a product each season, but becomea more self important each season.

I agree with everything you've said expect one thing mate, it'll never implode, it's 30 years old and just gets richer and richer. It's managed through recessions and a global pandemic. In reality it would be a waste of time us getting promoted these days, we were relegated just as the daft money came in.We simply couldn't compete. We're lightyears behind the likes of Brighton whom have just had a 60 plus million cash injection.

What started all of that? He seemed to loathe the club, the fans and the media over there but was being paid a ridiculous amount. He had a good/excellent record out there for the majority if the time! Seems like in the end he would go out of his way to make the situation worse, that flag Wales, golf, Madrid as an example!

lol I remember a few years ago there was a Spanish reporter on talkSPORT saying Bale speaks fluent Spanish but just keeps himself to himself. I honestly don't know what Madrid fans want, they're aren't even real supporters, just self entitled.

Not sure what started it all of, could be anything with Madrid, the President, the media, the fans....take your pick. He is definitely on record somewhere saying he prefers golf though. <laugh><laugh>

Really? Didn’t he score over 20 goals for a poor Man Utd side? Not exactly sure he shouldn’t have gone back. Defoe etc I agree with but not Ronaldo

With most other clubs he could come across as a dick in it all with Madrid not so much. Their fans are ****ing odd! A player can be one of the best in the world and playing on top of his game for them every week and they it will not be good enough for them!
