Didn't sound to me like anything happening before Bristol City based off them comments

yeh think it needs to be with EFL by noon to be done. and even then you'd need the player to have trained to throw them in unless they're some unstoppable machine.

sheff wed EFL cup game in midweek is perfect opportunity to start the likes of Simms, Alese, Bass and any potential incomings before Tuesday.

he said similar about 4 hours before Simms was announced, and eventually turned out had even trained the day before he'd said it. so I'd read nowt into that

he'd only say something was imminent if it was complete and in the process of being announced.
Said similar before Alese too, he gives the press absolutely nothing love him

I apologise to everyone....my remarks certainly weren't intended to be racist...which I'm not.....more a cautionary comment as sometimes incoming players don't settle and can be disruptive....as I said...we do have examples not so long back. Please accept my apologies....I didn't mean to offend.

I don't see any of your comments as racist..your stating what has transpired before with other African players, much to a lesser degree south Americans. I'm certainly not offended.

It would be good to see a new face or two through the door. I dont think we are desperate by any means, and I am not even convinced it is a numbers issue like Alex Neil suggests (that is just manager speak). I do think though a couple of players are probably too comfortable knowing they play each week, and that isnt good at this level. I would say we need someone to push Evans really hard for his spot. Same with Stewart, but ideally a very different type of striker. I also think we look short of a LWB if we want to play 3 as Cirkin seems to get the nod to move inside and Clarke doesnt have the defensive nous.

They key for me is whoever we bring in needs to be championship ready now. I think we need a bit of experience, we are still very young. I worry a bit we are now dealing in loans only, which arguably means lads out of u23 football, which is a serious step below this level. Maybe 1 more is ok, but not anymore for me. I also dont like the mood music coming from the premier league about how they want championship clubs committing to developing premier league u23 players, in return for more revenue being passed down. The arrogance is another nail in the coffin and needs to be rejected at all costs. We have our own u23, and our own cat 1 academy and I have no interest in championship clubs becoming a nursery for premier league clubs. Rant over.

Lets see if we cant go ambitious on a couple of well established championship performers, to bolster our own crop of highly talented youngsters. It is just what we need right now.

Good post mate. I have confidence in our recruitment policy at the minute....it's the best it's been in many a year. Think we know what we're doing and we just need to be patient until the end of this window.

I agree mate, we have done some brilliant business these last couple of years. They know what they are doing for sure. I would just like to see a couple of hardened championship lads come in to give us a streetwise edge. They arent easy to come by, but they are out there if we have money to spend. Jon Fleck from Sheff Utd would be brilliant for example, as would Ryan Woods from Birmingham. Jay Fulton from Swansea another. Max Bird from Derby would be great. Lewis Travis. Danny Ward from Huddersfield would be cracking. I am just reeling off players now, but am hoping these sorts of players are being considered, not just loanees.

Shhh we might be in for them and you are alerting other clubs about them :emoticon-0127-lipss

My current understanding of club strategy is to get in good youngsters and sell them off for a big profit... hence becoming over a period of time self-sustaining.

Its a good theory.... which is hard to make work let alone have the club climb up the division/leagues... time will tell.

Whilst hindsight will inform how good/bad we have been in this window, in about a months time.

Imho, atm our transfers in are not sufficient ... if we are to have a decent squad and successful season I await with anticipation what transpires!
