And he has a gameplan. Something none of our previous L1 managers seemed to bother with. Was more of a turn up and hope our quality outdone the opposition and if not then just sit back and let it run it’s course.

The same RTG clowns saying he can go are probably those who re-post the first glimpse of something they see on Twitter and say they’re ITK, were calling Cirkin worse than **** after a few games when it was blatantly obvious he had talent but wasn’t used to proper blokes football, slates Evans when he had a few bad games and called him our worst ever captain, think Winchester is good enough to be our championship right back etc etc the list is endless. Nee wonder opposition fans go on there for a laugh.

Agreed re gameplan. Stood on the pitch at Wembley holding up the promotion trophy, one of the first things he says is "Jobs half done". Class.

Was hearing rumours that Todd Cantwell might be going to Blackburn, if there's any chance that another Championship side are in for him then we should be making enquiries. Top class player at this level and in the last yr of his deal

Absolutely, could play for any bottom half prem side so more than good enough for the championship.

If that was the case then Bournemouth would be looking to sign him permanently after a loan spell there… He’s a good championship player imo. PL? I’m not so sure…

I think he would be good enough, I saw him play for Norwich a few times in the prem and he looked like their only player who deserved to be at that level. Either way at 24 and with a solid pedigree he's someone worth looking at.

I am going to take issue with your first paragraph. No manager or coach doesnt bother with a gameplan. They all had them. Alex Neil is a step above the other 3 so his game plan was better, that is all. Personally it is simply a case of AN just being a better coach, than being the other 3 didnt try to do their job, which is what suggesting they didnt bother with a game plan amounts to.

Alex Neil has managed in the premier league, has earned promotions and has dealt with higher quality players. That means he should be better than other 3, and I suspect we pay him considerably more.

Sorry but I totally disagree. Losing 1-0 and not making any subs until the 80th minute is having no game plan. Jack Ross was criminal for it when we were lacklustre although I still think he is a decent manager. Parky the worst of the worst and LJ couldn’t see a game out. You think Alex Neil would settle for taking 1 point from a game you’re winning at half time against 10 men when you’re a club the size of Sunderland in league one? Not only once but twice.. they knew we had a good squad and chanced that the players could turn things around themselves IMO. They didn’t have the balls to ring the changes early doors.

I do agree Neil is a cut above the others but it’s hardly groundbreaking management to make changes when things aren’t going your way. Anyway, the main reason for the gameplan comment was how he approached the Sheff Wed/Wycombe games. I’ll hold my hands up and say when I seen the line ups the first thing I thought was “why the f**k is O’nein starting in the middle.” When it turned out he was on the pitch to man mark Bannan, which he did twice over both legs, I was genuinely taken aback. He played a blinder.

I don't like to speak for other people, but I don't think @FellTop was defending the previous three managers. Its just a basic statement of fact that no manager at League 1 level, or any level of professional or semi-professional football, will go in to a game without a game plan. Their game plan might not be very good, it might not even be obvious to anyone outside of the group, but there will be one. In fact, you might say that a reluctance to make substitutions is evidence of them sticking too rigidly to a game plan.

I'd like to see Sanderson in a Sunderland shirt, quality player.
I would seriously make him our number one target for this Summer. Buy him and then take extra loanees later on in the transfer window if required.

My wish list would be:
Sanderson (buy)
Archer (loan)
Iversen (loan - with option to buy)
Broadhead (buy)

Wouldn't Neil have worked with him at Norwich. I had heard from a friend who is a Norwich fan was that he and (lad that went to Villa) started to think that they were too good for Norwich.

A bloke near me at the semi 1st leg was moaning o'nien had 'done nowt with the ball all day' I pointed out that neither had Barry Bannan. Excellent shift from him that day imo.

Could be the case, I'm not sure about his mentality I just rate his ability.

Where would he play and at the expense of who? That's a genuine question, as I'm unsure. Would he be the Clarke replacement drifting inside from the left or would he be wanting the number 10 role?

I don't think Cantwell falls into the category of the likes of Pritchard and Roberts who came to us with obvious talent but as rebuilding projects. I think he costs somewhere close to £10m and for that kind of outlay needs to be the focal point of a team. Is he the right fit for us at this time?
