Don't know if it's been mentioned already but I've just read that Stewart has a year left on his current deal, but apparently the club has the option to increase by another 12 months if they require, they have stated that they want to tie him to a longer contract over the summer
That option puts us in a strong position and I reckon it means Rangers cant afford him. I cant remember the last time they paid a decent fee for anyone and surely we dont let him go for less than £10m.

I have no problems with rewarding players but there needs to be a ruthless streak in the management.
Over the years, on quite a few occasions after promotion, the club has made minimal additions to the squad and the result is usually disastrous.
Each promotion needs a rethink in the squad to suit the new environment because as we all know, the standard required to achieve solidarity next season is vastly different to that required to get out of L1 and we must plan and act accordingly.
A quick look at most of the successful teams and you will we see there's no hesitation in cutting very good players if they can be replaced with better.
It's a fine balancing act I know, but sentiment must not play a part in recruitment.
I think with the current regime and their use of data we have to put our faith in KLD , Speakman , Neil , and the recruitment people they have brought in that bring a lot more professional approach to our recruitment that is quite far removed to what we have been used to . The days of the scattergun approach hopefully is in our past and a more measured attitude to our transfer business is now in place . We need to see progress within SAFC but must learn from past mistakes that have jeopardised our club and if that means living within our means so be it . We have now got the backing of a lot more fans who have backed the club with a massive uptake of season cards meaning a lot more revenue to fund development of our squad but we must be patient with our recruitment team and let them get on with their very important role in improving our squad .

Id like to see us make a move for Troy Parrott on loan from Spurs. He looked a quality player last year for MK Dons, and i was also impressed with him for Ireland on Saturday where he scored a well taken goal.

He reminds me abit of Stewart.

Im not sure why teams think just because a player was World class, it automatically means they will become a top manager?? If i was a Burnley fan, id have been hoping for someone alot more experienced with how the Championship works.
Kompany spent the majority of his playing career playing in the top 4 of the Prem surrounded by World class players.

Really well put mate. Sums up my feelings towards our recruitment in that we need to be very patient again.

Don’t go for those players that should be just good enough and instead go for the very best we can find. Also, the best we can find won’t necessarily be the most expensive though they may take the most effort to get over the line.

Cracking player, can play any of our forward positions as well so would be a great addition to the squad if we got someone like him in.

Some suspect interpretation of data in there I'd say.

The keeper recommended (Horvath) played 540 minutes in the league last season and has played just 4 games in the previous 2 seasons before that (in Belgium). The other 3 keepers are all Patterson's age or younger so I can't imagine they'd be the type of players we're even considering.

Marlon Fossey - 24 this year and has only played 22 League games in his career because he's injury prone (all at League one level). Looks like he's going to Bolton on a perm.

Looking at the centre backs - the heat maps of Dan Ballard and Murray Wallace are almost that of fullbacks. I'm presuming Millwall play with a back 3 and a high line. Their stats look very impressive and from what I can gather, they're both very good. But do they fit with how we want to play? One is left footed and one is right, one is 22 and the other 29. It seems unlikely that we'd have them on the same list of targets.

I can't be arsed going any further, because I've probably overthought it already to be honest and it's probably just some young lad enjoying himself and being positive about the future.

There are some good players on that list and some I've never heard of so the lad has clearly put some effort into his research, but I'll be expecting our recruitment team have gone much deeper than XG and passes into the opposition third etc.

Got anyone we could nab on the cheap? (Not maja)

Ouch, that's huge. Bordeaux are one of the most successful French clubs, they've had some great players over the years. Them in the 3rd tier and St. Etienne going down to Ligue 2 is insane. Complete mismanagement of massive clubs.
