I may be in a minority here, but I think Patto is good enough to keep the number one jersey next season. There is only two years difference in age between him and Iverson.

Patto was excellent at snuffing out crosses and set pieces with his willingness to come for the ball, a really safe pair of hands and good shot stopper with good distribution.

Iveson is 24 and Patto 20 yrs old. Iveson has 150 games under his belt as well. Not knocking Patterson at all as I think he has the makings of a very good keeper.

Patto is very good, agreed. I do like the idea of signing another high quality keeper though. We’re going to need a lot stronger squad for the Championship.

Absolutely. We certainly need another quality keeper, maybe two, but I wouldn't worry at all if we start the season with Patto between the sticks. I think he deserves his chance after the form he showed in the second half of last season.

I’d be happy with Patto being our number 1, don’t get me wrong.

But if we can get a better keeper for now whilst allowing him to continue to develop elsewhere, that’s the optimum for me

Let’s hope we’re better off in the GK department than we were in our last championship season… <doh>

Carney looks the part in the U23's, I would like to see him get a game or two next season. An top keeper/coach as cover would be one solution .

I thought Patterson was instrumental to us winning the play offs. His calmness during the 3 games was unbelievable for a goalie of his age. I think he has a really big future and sending him out on loan would be quite negative.

Patto will make a good keeper and we should stick with him, the more games he played the more confident he became.

His shot stopping and positional sense also improved, by the end of the season he was commanding his area much better and grew with the aid of the two lads in front of him.

Remember Brian Clough signing Shilton and a lot of criticism being levelled at him due to the fee , he countered with - that man will make 12 to 15 points for us each season . They won the league , they won the European Cup , he proved his point I would think !!!

Think Patterson has been brilliant and doesn’t seem phased at all by the occasion or the crowd despite his relatively young age.

I’d give him a chance, he’s deserved it. Having a better second keeper may push him on even more.

I wouldn’t. Not that I don’t rate him and he very clearly improved with the experience but I think he needs more experience at the level he was at last season. A full year of it. Iversen is only two years older but has had that extra two years experience and it matters. I think Patterson will be a great keeper but a league up with half a seasons experience is a leap too far and unfair on him I think.

I have no problems with rewarding players but there needs to be a ruthless streak in the management.
Over the years, on quite a few occasions after promotion, the club has made minimal additions to the squad and the result is usually disastrous.
Each promotion needs a rethink in the squad to suit the new environment because as we all know, the standard required to achieve solidarity next season is vastly different to that required to get out of L1 and we must plan and act accordingly.
A quick look at most of the successful teams and you will we see there's no hesitation in cutting very good players if they can be replaced with better.
It's a fine balancing act I know, but sentiment must not play a part in recruitment.

Agree with this and whilst promotion was excellent let’s not forget this is a squad that finished 5th in league one, we have a far better manager now admittedly but we need to make upgrades throughout the side to be competitive
