They will be protecting their investment I reckon mate. They will probably sell next summer for a fee dependant upon how he gets on this season. There is a chance a world cup appearance and a goal adds a zero to his value. Plus he gets his wages fixed.

The one thing bugging me about the criticism that Matete is recieving is, to me imo, Neil isn't playing him right when he does play, he's clearly not a holding midfielder. Looks far better as an out and out energetic centre midfielder which is where he played when he first came here.
I remember a couple of games where nobody could get the ball off him - he just couldn't be tackled. Always useful when going forward!
Sometimes needs must, plus Neil sees a lot more of the lad than we do.
