I'd see that as sufficient reason to look elsewhere.

I'd be astounded if true, because literally no-ones dream is to play for Blackpool football team... but if it were, THAT would be why we shouldn't sign him.
I guess that’s the position we find ourselves in with some players. They’ll see a team in higher division where they feel comfortable and go for that option over a vision.

Time will tell. For what it’s worth I hope we sign him.

We pulled out of the Gallagher deal at the last moment because of the high sell-on fee that Liverpool were demanding. It shows that we aren't willing to let the big boys dictate to us which I'm happy to see.

Cash rich clubs like Liverpool and Spurs wanting high sell on fees for youth players man
Marco slowly eroded his legacy at Sunderland with his comments and gripes.

But it was his total lack of research and knowledge that finished people off ...

... Phillips is heading the same way imo.

Final nail for me was when we were looking like relegation candidates but still could of stayed up and we were playing Derby whom were pushing for the play offs and he said live on radio something along the lines of hoping Derby win because they have a chance to go up. I'm sure he is a Derby fan, so true colours come out at times like these.

Perspective: football careers only last so long, players want/need to make a living spouting ****e.

Just, trying to imagine myself in SKPs shoes for a second. Got literally nothing to go on, because the club is run tight now, but isn't he obliged by FootCider to pass clueless opinion?

It's lame as ****. All marketing, media, all of it is lame as ****.

I want to say SKP is immune from criticism. But at some point it does start working against them, a la Marco. Maths, eh?

For those of you who like that sort of thing;
You must log in or register to see media

When he grows up and stops the obvious handballs ;) he could be quite a tidy player ...

Rather we sign the young star from the premier League to be honest mate. That will be today too. It's a ridiculously good signing at this level.

Agree mate. Hopefully we’re progressing with a few more. Almost down to the last 2 weeks of the window so you would expect some decisions and pressure to close deals now.

I'm happily convinced that some of this pressure will now be coming from our potential signings.

If you were an ambitious player, wanting to play good football in front of 30,000 of your own supporters you'd be asking your agent to get things moving. This is all a far cry from lazy mercenaries, like Jones or Maguire, traipsing from one club to another and dropping in at Sunderland for a while. Being in a team with Doyle, Cirkin, McGeady, Evans, Pritchard, Embleton, etc, must surely be an incentive for players.

TBH, if it isn't I wouldn't want them near the place.

To be fair, I think Maguire knew he had lucked out by getting a move here - he said it himself that a player of his quality shouldn't be playing for Sunderland. I think it's fair to say he gave his all when he was here

Having said that, I'm delighted he's gone and we have youth and energy in the team now

I also think its a little bit more than that mate. A manager or owner will always tells a prospective player "we want promotion". I think our prospectus will be a lot more detailed, informative and ambitious than that
