I posted extensively about the 'FPP takeover' and everything was exactly as I was told. It took hours of my time, I answered every question and was polite to everyone but the obvious troublemakers.

Yet I was continually attacked on RTG, as Reiver, and some of these imbeciles are still having digs at me now. What they post is totally untrue yet they analysed every word I posted trying to trip me up.

I still get information now, and know of a player who's coming, but I won't mention him in case it falters, at the last minute, like FPP did ...

... these people spoil things for those who treat info as a bit of fun and posted in good faith.

They're sick in the head but get away with it because other people pat them on the back. They're just as guilty as the Wums in my opinion, pathetic little people living pathetic little lives.
Is it someone we can get excited about? Mentioning no names obviously. :emoticon-0127-lipss

There ya go @Oliver's Army

Bailey Wright has been linked with a move to Saturday's opponents Wigan Athletic, leaving supporters concerned with the limited senior options in Sunderland' s defensive ranks.

The Black Cats brought in Callum Doyle on loan from Manchester City earlier this summer but with Arbenit Xhemajli still working his way back to full fitness, Lee Johnson's options are currently limited.

Speaking to The Echo, Speakman has strongly suggested a departure would only be considered if the squad could be strengthened further.

"I’d always say not to get too concerned about speculation," Speakman said.

"What I would say is I hope there’ll be a confidence that we won’t let a player go unless it’s in a situation that suits the football club.

"We’re well blessed because we’ve got a lot of players who would complement squads in the Championship and League One, and so there will be interest in them.

"When you’ve got players coming into the final year of their deal, there will naturally be interest.

"We’ll work on a case-by-case basis, and be flexible enough to deal with any changes we need to make.

"But we’re trying to build a stronger squad, not a weaker squad."

Speaking earlier this summer, Johnson said he believed there was more to come from Wright this season.

The centre-back missed the 2-1 draw with Hull City due to illness but is expected to be in contention this weekend.

"He's got a year left on his contract," Johnson said.

"We've been very open and honest with Bailey all the way through.

"I don't think the new ownership have seen the best of Bailey Wright, in terms of, he's got to do better than the last ten games of last season.

"At the same time, he can, and he was a real warrior in that time because he'd been out for nine or ten weeks and then came in and had about ten games on the spin.

"We also know what he brings off the pitch more than anyone, he's a fantastic human being and a great leader for us.

"Performances have been steady but I know there's more to come."

Does anyone know these three, fabled, stages of recruitment we seem to have implemented as per Bob on RTG?

Seems one of the reasons he isn't as enamoured with the recruitment team and why, as he states, we are potentially losing targets?

I'm excited, he's not from L2 or L1 so better than we had last year, no injury record either.

I also had a mention of someone who played in France coming for a trial ...

... and it's not Joey Barton <laugh>
Can you let us know position? I know you're trying not to say and here we are trying to draw you in to it.

Choose not to read RTG too many people repeat the same, ‘in jokes/phrases’ constantly so you can barely follow a conversation. Doesn’t add any value but they get their post count up :emoticon-0114-dull:

Used to be a good forum about 8 years ago. Interested to hear more on the workings of our recruitment though, ha!

Time we got the thread back on track , a lot of people are concerned about us not having signed any full backs but why buy people if they do not fit in to the long term plan . In the short term we should be looking at the full backs as being supplementary attackers which Neil and Winchester are quite adept to , we have spent to much time worrying about the opposition in recent times even to the point of changing the team - get on the front foot and let them worry about us I think should be our philosophy only defend when we need to . If and when the right players become available that suit the club is when we should we be buying them not lowering our standards of what we need from incoming players .

well said mate. We look much more cohesive and incisive going forwards in the friendlies.

We could even go 3 at the back with any of Neil, Gooch, Winchester or O’Nien slotting into the full-back/wing back roles until the right players come in.

That leaves five from Evans, Embleton, McGeady, Diamond, Hawkes, OBrien, Stewart to start the campaign off…. maybe even Grigg.

Time to judge recruitment is when the window closes.
