Isn't it strange that after the game last night there hasn't been many rumblings regarding not having any proper full backs in place before the Wigan game........
It was a friendly. The need for full backs is still present. I certainly won't repeat the same post for the sake of it or claim victory over other posters as it's not about that. It's about what's best for safc. Hopefully the recruitment team do their job otherwise we may not achieve our ultimate goal.

No one has denied that we need full backs as well as other quality players to fill the team out but the way some posters were claiming that cos the players hadn't been signed as yet we were gonna get beat in every game. Hopefully last night's game has showed that it might not be the case but using midfielders as full backs should only be a stop gap and fingers crossed they are signed well before next weekend
No one's said we'll lose every game. We have said it'll seriously effect the side. Which it did last season when results suffered

With the way modern football is played both of the full backs have to be comfortable on the ball as they are expected to play high up the pitch when attacking to try and create overloads in the wide positions which is why we more midfielder type players in the position rather than a simple stopper.

We’ve just watched what I would say was a pretty good and comforting performance, I like the way we are trying to play, we look decent with the ball, always searching out a forward pass and even Will Grigg scored. We have had a pretty good pre season on the pitch, yet the first thing that he can think of is “ why no moaning from those who want full backs”. In turn that enticed people like you to reference bed wetting even though we actually do need full backs. Christ why can’t people just accept that everyone is different and there is no need for playground insults, it’s embarrassing, not conducive to debating and will only assist in driving posters away. Now whether you think great, they were **** posters anyhow is irrelevant, the RTG influence is here now and I don’t think it’s big nor clever. I have no interest whatsoever in debating today or any day with infantile name calling being thrown around. I’m sure we can discuss the matter in hand like adults
BTW I’m banned from over the road, for providing a mature, senile and quite frankly fully deserved and appropriate response. But then again, you have two choices over the road, fight fire with fire and get reported or report them first, I choose the former. I’m not so sure that incontinence is any way an appropriate reaction to needing full backs.
Fantastic post

I'm not getting into the whole ITK clart on again but I was briefly chatting to a clever fella this morning, about the match.

He's not Sunderland but knows a couple of football agents, one of whom I can't abide ... you might guess.

Anyway he said, as if I already knew, 'Of course you lot have the advantage of offering cash, not instalments'.

I just agreed 'cos I like him to think I'm more in the know than I actually am, loosens his tongue a bit <laugh>

this is exactly what I thought would happen. KLD wants sustainability which means if he spends his own money it will be on capex not opex. Single transfer fees paid by him that do not tie the club to any sort of debt, future payments or exaggerated wages should he be hit by a bus tomorrow.

he will invest but only on one off payments IMO. One off transfer payments, infrastructure etc

Agree with this mate. It is right for him to do exactly this. Clubs will want to deal with us for this reason. Our revenue outstrips all other clubs, at least genuine revenue, and should see us paying wages top players want, as seen with O'Nien. Dont be surprised if we win big in the loan market because we pay a loan fee as well.

This is exactly the way it should be going forward. If we have to be patient and need to use the entire window then we should. I understand the impatience, it’s got to me a bit but if he’s paying with his own cash and bringing in better players then supporters should buy into his way. He’s doing it all for the right reasons. If it came to the day he wanted to sell the club it would be a more attractive business without the debt.

I just have a good feeling about this season, and for some reason I think we'll go up as champions, reading between the lines it looks like Goode is the PL player we have bid £1.3m for and Jebbison in on loan, just get the two mentioned in and a decent LB in and I'll be very happy for now, the RB problem can be sorted after the season has started.

Ive just checked and Goode is 6 foot 5. I think we all know a big CB in this league goes a long way. Beevers was an absolute brick wall when we played Peterborough last season and another big CB i remember us struggling against was McFadzean's brother last season when we played Coventry.

Wright has the physical presence for us, but not the height. Flannagan just gets outmuscled when we play a team with a big strong CF so id like to see us sign a big unit to play at the back aswell alongside Doyle.

Excellent insight mate! HP and Credit Card are not where we’re at! Sustainable future means taking control, not hoping on a wing and a prayer!

Can i just add. Xhemajli is 6 foot 3 and a pretty big lad physically. I cant wait to see what he has to offer.
