Going to dive for cover now ..

I think we have adequate cover for Freeman in the team...
Freeman is the spare pin in our midfield 3.
He is being asked to play as a winger and it is not his natural position....

Yes he is the most creative player but also he makes a lot of wrong decisions. He had the most assists but a percentage of them is because he takes all corners and free kicks.
Yes the team is really going to have to step up....but if moneyball is going to work for us....in keeping our debts down and going forward like Brentford have...I am afraid I can see it happening.

But why Blackburn and not Boro????

I totally get what your saying Beth. When a manager states the need for some more experienced players then surely you don't sell another one?!

A bigger question is why sell to one of our relegation rivals? Totally senseless...

An even bigger question must be.....

Why bring McLaren in if we are going to sell off our cattle? Old mate before him could of carried on with a relegation battle.

Agree with just about all other than the Mittal's. If they were that interested they would have bought us.

Do you mean they would have bought us (if they wanted to) after we were sold to TF? According to The Four Year Plan, they were set to buy us from Flav who then pulled out and sold to TF instead, presumably for more cash??

I think Freeman is a weather vane of what's around the corner for us.

If he goes, with no suitable replacement, then I think we can reasonably deduce that The Board are simply out to recoup as much loss as possible in the hope that we don't get relegated while playing the kids. I suppose the loan market might provide some hope. It will be a very long season if that is the case.

How frustrating to be owned by very rich men and still in this mess?!

We can harp back to when we sacked Warnock, appointed Hughes then Harry. Personally, after watching The Four Year Plan, I was more disappointed to learn that Amit / Mittal were due to buy the club but then frozen out in favour of TF. No guarantees of course but I believe we might well have been better off under their stewardship. All speculative of course.

Missing first two home games (don't think that's ever happened to me before!) so will be cheering from a distance and hoping we can secure that all important first win.
I think the owners are trying to limit their current and future losses and make sure the club is sustainable. They will never recoup anything of what they have sunk into this club, it is almost literally worthless and still operating on a loss. I have no sympathy for the owners, they dug their own hole, but they are trying to fill it in.

Mittal never had any interest in the club, it was a toy for his son in law, who lost interest when a bigger character turned up. Bhatia is a major investor in Snapchat, which is losing users and has a share price which is in free fall. I don’t think he has that much business nous, but he has a very rich backer.

Freeman cost us something like £350k. If we can sell him for £4m it’s a sensational return and fits the business model perfectly. But Fernandes will regret his ‘not for sale’ tweet, will get him tons of grief. Enough grief to make him walk? Interesting.

The ambition of the club is to survive as a sustainable business. What mystifies me is how they conned McClaren into taking the job, unless he was truly desperate.

From Sky......

FOREST TO SIGN HUDDERSFIELD MAN
Huddersfield defender Michael Hefele is in advanced talks to join Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal today, according to Sky sources.
It is understood that fellow Championship side QPR had wanted him on a season-long loan.

Looks like we will end up with no additions today !!!

SB we know that TF likes his online stuff, and I agree that IF he sells Freeman there will be uproar. Now we have our fine sorted he can't use that as an excuse to selling Freeman, but then again. 1700 today is it?

Looking good ain't it.......

I really do question, given our location in West London, how inept we are in the loan market. Surely there's a CB hanging around the London Premier Division clubs (perhaps someone like a Reece Oxford at West Ham for example) who would join on loan for a season?

I know the Championship is a tough league to bed in a youngster, but we've always traditionally enjoyed an effective loan signing (Kyle Walker the year we went up, Jerome Thomas when he was at Arsenal etc).

It would seem our ability to attract players has diminished somewhat. Dave Macs line that we can offer a better wage than most would seem to be incorrect - as we know most players only follow the cash. It’s hard to see anyone coming in today, so I assume we will be filling any gaps with loan players - which will be complicated as salary costs will not be cheap either (if they are coming from any EPL club).
Have to say, I do feel peeved when I see some of the players that other clubs are bringing in/able to bring in - even Birmingham are bringing players in under supposed restrictions ... how does that happen and we struggle. Perhaps we are doing better on our due diligence??

Forget transfers today.

We are into the loan market and free agents.

It's pretty clear we have the sum total of zero for transfer fees.

Keep the faith, I agree Swiss Tony is inept at managing our club but we've been in far worse predicaments.

Agree, but I thought we'd have a couple of loans wrapped up by now. Then again it maybe difficult as some players would ideally prefer a permanent move rather than a loan.

From TF's tweets it seems they the Club DON'T want to sell him:

You must log in or register to see media

and it seems the bid has been rejected

This is great, but it could be a good ploy to raise the price to say 6M GBP?

If he stays, then great as we have a good player and some strength in depth. As menitoned several times, I feel that our "best formation" has either Freeman or Eze in the no.10 position, which means that Freeman is currently used as an attacking wide player.

As a result, if he goes for a "good" price, I will be sad, but will not cry.
